Interesting maps.

Post by greypanther » Sat, 7. Oct 17, 13:27

I just came across these maps, sorry that they are from the Daily Mail, but they are interesting anyway. For instance did you know that Australia does not have the most poisonous animals?

Neato maps!

An interesting related site: https://thetruesize.com Compare "true size" projections of countries.

Here's a post with a bunch of factoid and humorous maps, mostly US, but plenty of world maps, too: https://imgur.com/gallery/pP9Z9

I think this is probably the finest map, and the finest graphic, ever produced.

It's clarity is horrifying.

It's dripping in blood... Thanks for that. There's a reason why "infographics" is a discipline these days.

The map shows the number of different species that are venomous, neither how venomous nor poisonous they are. :P

I am surprised by the gun-licence-map and I like the happiness map. Time to visit Norway and Denmark!

Time to friggin' move there... But, they have some strict immigration laws and such, I think.

Yes, once Trump got elected, I started looking around at my options. :) Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Switzerland (especially) and Canada were my top areas of interest. I considered France, but then that's filled with French stuff, so...

Saw the list, saw the word "Ordnance" everywhere, immediately conjured up images of hidden caches of gunpowder barrels and cannonballs. :)

Cool maps, though!

Just came across this when looking for a suitable offering for the thread:

Cannot argue with the sweet comment. That reminded me of another site I found in the past, which gives you aerial photographs of areas in the past too.

Came across this for something related: Oldest map in Western Europe

14,000 years old... A stone tablet relief map of the surrounding area, with water, land features, animal locations, etc, clearly marked on it. That's awesome!
