Just caught up with this after recieving an annoucement email. Very, very pleased to hear it. Please don't mess this up Ego, make it like X3 only bigger better and deeper. That's what I'm looking for anyway.

I know you're doing the XR:VR thing as a priority, but really that doesn't interest me. But I'm still cool about it 'cos I know people are going ape about how VR transforms the Elite Dangerous experience so I imagine the trial run in XR:VR will add a lot to X4 VR experience and probably force me to seriously consider getting a VR set when X4 finally arrives.

Some people have that all the old X universe players have gone away. I just want to say I haven't gone away, I'm just not interested in XR. I'll be back like a flash as soon as I see X4 above trhe horizon.

I know the email updates I'm going to get from you are going to be all about XR:VR primarily, but please can you also add just a little bit about X4 as well?

Probably yeah. Tho they might split the game unto two versions. A normal one first for most players a second one for vr players later down the line like xr'vr. Depending how xr'vr goes of course.

It's not been announced. I am just guessing it will havee VR support from the get go becasue....why wouldn't they if they've already done it for XR? By X4 release the idea that VR and first person view space games are a marriage made in heaven should be indelibly etched on the general gaming public.

Well, from what it said in the VR Trailer.. it can be switched from 2D to VR at your own convenience in-game.

To put it in future X Games would be wise to do so, with the current model of Rebirth VR? It's possible if they've already added the VR framework there.

Because XR VR is a truncated version of XR. I don't think most players will want a watered down version of X4 just to cater to the rather small crowd that uses VR.

Just try to get feedback on it from "a players mindset" when you are able/ready. UI is such a tricky thing to get right and has been a real ball and chain for X Universe.

No.1 Golden rule is the UI must work for the player not against them in getting things done.

Hope the ui is more graphical styled than last few games, xbtf to x2 stood out from others I thought with its stylish ui. Dunno why they want it minimal like a sidebar like eve online had as the ui for that is boring as hell. Big colourful animated ui all the way I hope for x4.

The problem with sylish UI is that it's often not functional.
Since X-Rebirth 2.0 you can choose between stylish UI that is the part of Skunk kopit pilot body animation (e.g turning head to the monitor) or the simple Sidebar UI.
I picked the sidebar UI every time, the only pros of cokpit UI was better scaling to player monitor resolution (e.g. trade menu in cokpit mode was taking whole screen, while sidebar UI trade menu was using like 30-40% of the screen).

I think by stylish he meant the X2 UI that actually fitted in the game well visually while many felt that everything was quite "naked" in X3

Well I had no idea that was so. In which case screw VR. I can confirm without hesitation that a "watered down" version of X4 is NOT what I am looking forward to. Not even the slightest hint of dampness.

XR VR is not a watered down version of XR! You have almost the same possibilites as in XR. The changes that were made, which do not relate to the UI, were mostly done to ensure a stable framerate on a majority of systems. Some users with better hardware are already successfully experimenting with reversing these changes. Whether or not VR will play a role in X4 will most-likely depend on the experiences Egosoft makes with the XR VR Edition and on the market saturation of VR in general.
