menu lag near headquarters (NOT using an AMD graphic card)

Post by fireanddream » Sun, 7. Feb 16, 05:57

So I got this menu lag when I'm flying near my headquarters:

Frame rate drops from ~75 to ~25 when a menu is opened
It happens when I open a ship menu (info, comm, scan, etc).
It doesn't happen when I open a station menu (info, comm, landed ships, etc).
It doesn't happen when I'm docked at my headquarters.
It doesn't matter what direction I'm looking at, as long as my personal ship is inside the collision detection area of my headquarters, I'll experience the lag.
For other stations, my frame rate will drop from ~75 to ~55, barely noticeable.

In the end it's not a major problem, just wondering if it's a known issue. I have the terran version headquarters by the way.

Out of sheer interest, do either of the user-offered workarounds that helped some AMD users help you with this issue? (1. Changing VSync setting. 2. Setting X3 cpu core affinity to one or two real cores only.)

Vsync is forced off by default and setting core affinity didn't solve it either.

nvidia GTX980m, performance-wise it's like 760. Driver ver. 358.91.

Another issue, not sure if related:
sometimes the game doesn't want me to hold down left/right arrow, like when I was adjusting a station price setting I could see the number going up for 2 secs, freezing for half a second, and then repeat. Also happened when I was turning a ship with left/right arrow key, about twice in 6 in-game days.

That second issue could indicate a stuck or intermittent control somewhere. Check any controller or stick buttons (or throttle/stick calibration and deadzones) for unreliable or persistent inputs. I suppose that a continuous input might also explain lag in menus, not sure on that though.

You can test complete devices by unplugging them and seeing if the issue changes.
