NEWS: X Rebirth update and Free Weekend on Steam for all X series games.

We are pleased to announce a Free Weekend on Steam, covering the weekend of the 13th to the 15th of March. During this weekend all of our X series games, from X-Beyond the Frontier right through to X: Rebirth, will be available for you to try out. So whether you're new to the series and are wondering what they are like, or just have some of our games missing from your collection, give it a go!

To coincide with the Free Weekend, we will also be releasing our latest update for X: Rebirth, including a new ship, several new gameplay features, and a new FXAA graphics option, as well as big improvements to support for modders working with the UI, and the usual collection of fixes and smaller improvements.

And there's more! We are also about to enter the public Alpha test phase for our in-house native Linux port of X: Rebirth. Steam Play means you can buy the game once and play it on any available platform, so if you would like to help us test and improve the Linux version, now's the time to get involved.

Don't worry Oliver, they do extensive beta testing with players here on these forums for each release. Most of any major issues have been worked out

Just a quick note @CBJ - on the steam store page for Rebirth, there doesn't seem to be any indication of the difference between the normal and the CE editions (for people who might want to buy either). Perhaps you guys can add something to show what extras people will get for buying the CE version? Cheers!

This is what I have been waiting for. Been watching this game with interest since long before release, and afterwards with the patches, but held off and was deterred by negative reviews and sky high price for a long time. With a price drop to what I feel comfortable playing, and a chance to play it for a couple days, if I like what I see, I'll most likely get it. Downloading now.

I notice two "Collections" are available on Steam this weekend. The "Superbox Collection" includes the Superbox Bonus DVD, and 6 X-games. The "EgoSoft Collection" includes the 6 games of the Superbox + Reunion -- does it also have the Superbox Bonus DVD material? If so, it is definitely the Way to Go (even though I have CDs/DVDs of several of the earlier X-games). It would be nice to get a response while the Sale is still on ...
