One of those 'Weird' details, is the fact that Everything that was in X2, that is, the data files, audio, graphic, bod, scenes, you name it, was in X3: Reunion. Nothing was removed.Honved wrote:It seems weird for Egosoft to have made special models of something that's not actively used, if that's what they are, unless they're "leftovers" from some previous game.
X3:R was supposed to be an UPGRADE to X2. But so much changed, they just made it a separate game.
Almost all those 'redundant' files, were in X3:TC as well. A bunch of them, like the wrecked X2 Titans, cargo containers and such, had to be modified to actually work with TCs new graphic engine, which didn't really like the X2 textures.
Let you take a guess as to who did all that texture updating.
So it isn't all that unusual to have 'bits' that are old, and still showing up on occasion.
Just take a look at the Kha'ak ships. They never changed since X2. I had to do a bit of texture fixing, to get the glowing bits working, and on their engine flares, but they are still the same ships.
