X-Tension and Win 8.1

I having a problem getting X-tension to run on Windows 8.1. The X-tension is the Steam install. It starts with the Use Settings dialogue which I uncheck and start it up. The screen resolution changes and then get the windows dialogue X-tension has unexpectedly close down - looking for a solution.
I've tried changing the compatibility settings but that doean't seem to do the trick - Any suggestions?

Well, hello! Your signature is very apt.

I seem to remember a number of people reporting that they solved similar problems by setting their game resolution to be the same as their Windows desktop resolution, or vice versa.

Thanks CBJ; First time I've posted in the "proper" forums for a very long time. I'll give it a go.

Well interestingly the device (win 8.1 Tablet pc) only has four video resolutions 1280*800, 1280*768, 1024*768 and 1280 *720 and X-tension doesn't work in any of them. Its got Intel HD graphics but I think there is something strange about the Graphics setting as I can't get DoxBos to work either. If I do get working I'll report back here.

Fixed - attached a keyboard / mouse and it works. Seems not to like the soft keyboards and needs physical one. Runs fine at maximum resolutions (this is on a Linx 10 tablet (with keyboard).

Now to get X2 running - if only to see my name in lights

X2 runs like a dream. Benchmark returns just over 42fps.
