Wrath of the Hive (LU + XM-O DiD)

Post by kaistern » Mon, 17. Nov 14, 06:37

Mod: XM-O which requires LU. Oh and Quick Wings my very own script package that greatly improves wing functionality, you should try it! (All of this is AP btw))

About the Mods: LU changes everything, including but not limited to removing the plots and adding an end game. In LU your mission is to destroy the OCV (an evil race of super Xenon intent on conquering the galaxy... and they will unless you stop them) and the Phanon Corp. (Think of it as your evil twin bent on killing you, with access all the resources that are available to you). XM-O is a variant of XM-R which radically changes the missions aspect of the game; however in XM-O things change a lot. XM-O speeds the enemies up by ten-fold. The OCV are now on crack, constantly expanding, AND they have scout ships that will explore deep into Commonwealth space and then drop a jump beacon that an entire OCV invasion fleet will pop out of. Phanon starts out in it's final stage and will actively seek you out and kill you on sight fro mthe very beginning of the game. To counterbalance this you get a Kha'ak Mothership with lots of awesome powers, (it seems balanced though); and rewards from mission has been seriously boosted (my first mission that I completed in beta one was a "very easy" mission and brought in 300k). All of that being said this is a very dangerous world, the first mission I accepted was a very easy "hunted" mission, a couple of minutes later found my discoverer fireballing in the middle of three swarms of wasp missiles... I never had a chance. But I think I have a handle on it now and a plan to keep myself alive. Lets just hope it works :D

You should chack them out!

Rules:

Conditional DiD

NO REPAIR LASER. At all. Literally it is not even possible to install this in my spacesuit, not sure if this was from LU, or XM-O or just a mess up on my install but I like it and I'm keeping it. If a patch or update adds it back then I will go in and remove it from the T files.

Personal ship MUST be a Kha'ak ship

No buying of military class ships (M1,M2,M3,M4,M5,M6,M7,M8 ) I am not sure how hard this will make the game because I am not sure of the capabilities of the Kha'ak ships. However worse case senario I fireball and start a new story lol

Transport class ships are ok though (TS, TP, TM, TL)

Assets:

The Mothership - Kha'ak Carrier
---10 Nividium
Fully tuned Discoverer
Fully tuned Mercury

Starting funds: 18,000 credits

No repair laser : that's XM-O.

Personal ship must be a Kha'ak ship. I had troubles fixing camera problems on some Kha'ak ships. Thus, the Fighter can't be piloted. To be frank, if it was possible to forbid the player to pilot Kha'ak ships, I'll do it. These are not for you :)

Kha'ak ships, in my vision, are fast, very fragile, deadly, with a very low laser power (but a quick reload). They also don't have much space in their cargo hold.

Good luck!

Yeah I thought that was you. It is good for XM-O though as it forces you not to waste time on repairing your ship when you should be able to afford a shipyard repair anyway.

WHAT!?! The fighter can't be piloted!?! That was one thing I was really enjoying and worked well with my idea for the DiD. I can work with fast, fragile but deadly, and the restriction on cargohold is fine too. Hmmm well I played for a long time in the interceptor and it seemed pretty combat worthy, a bit fragile perhaps but still a decent fighter. If all else fails I can just pilot the interceptor untill I unlock the corvette. Hmmm..... I'll have to think on this, My stuburn streak says that there must be a way around this... oh dear you mad it angry, you never want to make my stuburn streak angry.... That's how quick wings got created :D

Prologue Part 1

----------

My name is Issac McCloud, and this is my story. It all started awhile back. You see I had been aboard a Express transport on my way to a new job at the ore mine alpha in Ore belt when a group of pirates attacked and the stupid pilot decided to surrender instead of waiting on the military to respond. The pirates were nice enough to stop firing and escort us back to their base where they threw everyone on board in chains and started to auction us off as slaves... How lucky... So there I was in chains and knowing that if I didn't do something fast that the pirates would sell me and then I would begin my life as a slave. So I decided to befriend one of the guards, luckily for me I had always been easy to get along with and in the end the guard decided to free me. Unfortunetley for him the next thing I did was pull his blaster and shoot him in the head. My dad had taught me two import lessons in life, how to think on my feet and the only good pirate was a dead pirate. At that point I quickly freed the rest of the slaves and armed them with whatever weapons we could find. Then we fought our way out, stole a ship and left as fast as we could. Now you might be thinking what was going to stop the pirates from just recapturing us? Well that was some more quick thinking on my part. The ship we stole was only a nova fighter but it was loaded full of silkworm missiles which I used to blast our way out of the pirate hanger, another one to some missiles that were stacked on the tarmat of the hanger as I pushed the throttle in and then the rest at anything that dared follow us. Oddly the pirate base was in Ore Belt and so after broadcasting an SOS to the local sec def we were quickly surrounded by friendly ships and escorted back to argon prime. Thats when I found out I had been even luckier. Turns out some time before they had captured me the pirates had managed to capture the fraking Prime Minister of the FRAKING Federation and he was one of the other slaves I had rescued! As a reward for my efforts, of saving my own ass mind you, the federation named me Hero of the Federation, gave me a shinny medal and a lot of reward money. For the next year I lived large as every TV reported wanted an interview and I blew through my reward money. Then it ran out, and no one cared about me anymore. With the last of my money I bought a Discoverer and a Mercury which I fully outfitted and crewed and then set out to make my fortune back.

Which brings us back to today. For the past two months or so I have been running search and resuce missions in local space, mostly just find broken down transports and bringing the crew back, but today Sec Def had contacted me. To my suprise one of their frigates had gone missing, and they didn't have enough ships to go look for it. They had sent it out on a standard deep space recon mission and it had never returned so now I was sitting in the cockpit of my discoverer with the mercury off of my starboard following what was left of it's ion trail. Most likely it was going to be a boring couple of days, I'm sure the frigate is just fine and just ran into some engine trouble or decided to investigate an anomaly that delayed it but the payment was good so here we were.

I flipped my shinny hero medal between my fingers as I set back in the cockpit with my feet propped up on the dash, with the autopilot set, slowly counting the minutes. God I was bored...

"...ssstt... Hey boss man, are you picking this up?.. sssttt.." The captian of the mercury radioed. I set up an looked at my displays searching for what ever it was he had seen. Nothing... empty space... nothing... blimp... nothing... Wait what was that? I thought as I refocased my scanner... scanning... scanning.

OBJECT DETECTED - ARGON MESSAGE PROBE.
ANOMALY DETECTED - WORMHOLE

There's the reason for their delay I thought to my self smiling as I gunned my engines. Just a quick trip through to verify they were ok and the home in time for supper. As I approached the wormhole the message probe activated sending out it's prerecorded message.

"This is Captain Darvin of the AFS Allson. We have detected a wormhole at this location and are proceding through to determine it's risk to the Federation. If you are hearing this then proceed with extreme caution as the wormholes destination has yet to be established." Standard wormhole rhetoric, don't enter until cleared by that navy... well that didn't apply today cuss I don't get paid unless I can verify the where abouts of that frigate.

"Ok guys, maitain position here, I'll go in and scout around and if I need you I'll come back to get you."

"Rodger that." The mercury replied as I head through the event horrison.

--------------

COLLISION ALERT! COLLISION ALERT!

"Oh shit!" I yelled as I fired my IRE's at a chuck of floating metal that nearly dug my grave. The IRE's blasted into it sending it spiralling in the oter direction. I watch it moving away as I slowly caught my breath. The wormhole had dropped me into the middle of a debris feild with chucks of metal floating all around. I watched as the peice that had nearly cost me my life spun end over end, there was something written on one side of it.... LLSO... LLSO? what could.... oh shit! Allson! As in the fraking frigate! My leg started twitching as anxiety crept it's way into my blood. Shit, shit, shit! What to do.... umm... Shit! Survivers! I thought as I fumbled to initiate a scan for life forms.

ONE LIFE SIGNS DETECTED, RACE UNKNOWN

"Unknown?" I slowly powered up my engines as I carefully manovured throught the deprise field. It was odd though, there was way to much debris here to be from a single frigate and that was all that the Navy had said that they had lost... I continued on my way dodging left and right and then finally coming around what appeared to be the engine from a Cerberus.... "Oh shit!" As I came around the engine a large spherical alien ship not 5 km away came into veiw. I felt my heart pumping in my chest as I raced through the options in my mind... waiting for it to open fire... seconds became minutes as I set frozen but nothing happened. The alien ship just sat there, not moving not firing, just lifeless. Slowly my mind started working again which is when I realised that the life sign I had detected must have come from the alien ship But only one for such a large ship? Curiousity was slowly overcoming my fear and I gave power once again to my engines and crept forward to investigate the ship. Nothing happened. More confident now I went ahead and pushed the throttle in and started to circle the ship. It was huge, way bigger then the largest ship I had seen from the common wealth. I'm sure it would dwarf Argon One which was the pride of the Navy. As I headed around the ship I noticed that there was an opening in the rear of the ship, what appeared to be a hanger maybe? Again curiosity was in contol so I turn my ship and slowly approached. The opening was plenty wide enought to fly into so I eased my way through it into a large empty hanger bay.....

I think this prologue is going to be the official story :)
Maybe renaming the pilot Issac McCloud when you activate XM-O.

Good job, keep up !

hehehe glad you like it

part two is going to establish why you have access to all of those powers, why you can not access them all from the beginning, how ships are made, establish the fact that the destruction of the OCV is the main goal, why that is the main goal, and some other cool stuff... but there are also some other things you might want to change (or I can change for you) if you want to use it as well (though part 1 would actually suffice beside leaving some unanswered questions...)

but you can decide about that once I have finished writting it :D

Prologue Part 2

----------

My boots landed softly on the tarmat of the alien ship as I searched for any signs of life through the scope of my laser rifle. Nothing moved. It was quiet, no sounds from the engines, no humming of life support, no voices, no sound. I glanced at my suit's built in atmosphere sensor, showing that the atmosphere was fine if I needed carbonmonoxide to live. However since I was human that made it the exact opposite... Toxic. I made my way slowly across the hanger bay alert for any signs of life. Finding nothing but a hatch leading further into the ship I continued on. I wasn't really sure what I was looking for but I still felt compelled to continue, to search, almost drawn like a moth to a flame. I moved from room to room searching the ship but it was empty, with no signs anything had ever lived here. Still I searched moving always inward, always toward the center. It took hours, the ship was huge, it almost felt even bigger in the inside then it did from the outside. Yet still it was empty. I passed by countless room that I could only assume where living quarters, mess halls, and many other rooms that I had no idea what purpose they served. There were no light that I could find anywhere yet oddly the ship was not dark, it almost seemed as if light eminated from the very walls themselves. Finaaly I came to a room unlike the rest. Steping though the door I found myself stareing at a large tank fiiled with some green liquid in which a float an Alien. That it w Kha'ak was immeadiatly obvious, however it was unlike any Kha'ak that I had ever seen on the news. It reminded me of a gaint praying mantis except for the numorous wires snacking from it's body to the walls of the tank. I slowly approached the tank, drawn by the strangeness, and in awe. I reached out to touch the tank, but instead my hand slipped through the tank and into it. A jolt of lightning shot up my arm as darkness closed in on me.

-----------

I awoke with a start. The first thing I noticed is that I was not where I had been, I was still in the alien ship but i was not longer ine the room with the tank. The second thing I noticed was that my space suit was off. My mind paniced as I set straight up trying to hold my breath and look for my spacesuit, only to find myself face to face with the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Long locks of brunette hair flowed down her shoulders in waves, framing such a beautiful face that I was drawn in to her gorgeous brown eyes.

"You can breath you know." She said in a sweet singsong voice. I took a small hesitant breath of air, and then another and another. It seemed the air wasn't toxic anymore which alieviated my most urgent concern but made room for...

"Who are you? How did you get here?"

"I am Krystal, and I was made here." She said with the most beautiful smile. I found myself lost in that smile... but wait...

"Made here? What do you mean? And how is it that the air is breathable? It was toxic when I came aboard, did you fix it?" She took a long breath before replying

"I am an android, the Queen made me as a liason to you. And the air has not changed, you have. When you touched the Queen some of her DNA was transfered to you and you are now able to breath our air. There were other changes as well but they will not be noticable, yet."

"What do you mean?"

"You now have the blood of the Royal clan of the Kha'ak. You are now a Prince of the Kha'ak, the last Prince of the Kha'ak."

"The last?"

"We have been at war, billions of our swarm have perished and the queen is all that remains." Krystal waved her hand in front of my face and my mind was filled with visions. I saw hundreds of Kha'ak ships fighting, dying, and losing. Worlds being turned to glass by ship unlike any I had ever seen before. Finally the Queen, on her own being chased by a much larger ship. Lasers lashed out and each one felt like a dagger in my side. Then their was the worm hole, a last ditch chance to escape. But just as the queen was drawing near to the wormhole a Argon frigate came through, blocking her escape. The AFS Allson lashed out at her scaring her deeply opening many of her decks to the void. But then the frigate saw the ship that had been chasing her and instead lashed out against it. But the frigate was outmatched and soon it's shields were down and it was near death. In a last ditch effort the frigate turned it's self into the other ship and they both vanished in a flash of light. Battle weary the queen closed her eyes.

"You see now? The queen is all that is left of the Kha'ak. She is angry, but she cannot lead a war, that is for the Prince to do. That is for you to do." I felt numb. I was convinced I was in some weird dream but no matter how much I pinched myself I would not wake up. Krystal kept talking as I stared through her trying to adjust to what she was saying. She talked about how for days the queen had been forced to make androids to clean up and repair the ship itself, how their precious resource Nividium was almost gone and without it the Queens would soon die. How if the queen had enough then she could make more ships to form a fleet.

"But she needs time."

"I'm sorry, this has been hard to follow... why does she need time?"

"In the fight much of her memory banks were currupted or destroyed. With time she can restore them and use the knowlege to aid you in your mission. Many powers she once had, and will again with time."

"My mission?"

"To find and destroy who ever did this of course. To show them the Wrath of the Hive.

----------

I spent the rest of the day learning about the Queen and the task she was giving me. She would follow my orders as long as it was in her intrest and was in the intrest of the war effort. Part of me said that this was crazy, part of me wanted to get back in my ship and just run. I don't know if it was the Kha'ak blood that now flowed through my veins, but something else inside of me squashed the other parts of me like a little bug. I was going to do this. I was going to help the queen. I was going to fulfill my duties as the Last Prince of the Kha'ak.

Prologue: Part 3

----------

"So where is the bridge?" Krystal got an amused look on her face as walking down one of the countless passages though the massive Mothership. She was tring to familarize me with the ship; however I still felt lost.

"What bridge?" She asked smirking.

"You know, the command room, the CnC, the place where you control the ship. The bridge."

"You missunderstand. There is no bridge. There is no need for a bridge. When the queen became the queen she became the Mothership. They are one and the same. She sees though it's eyes, and feels through it's skin. When she want the ship to move it does, when she wants a cannon to fire it does."

"Then how do I tell her what I need her to do?"

"For now you can go through me. However we believe that in time your Kha'ak blood will allow you to communicate directly with her. But we are unsure, this has never happened before." Her statement sent chills down my spine, I still had not accepted the I now had Kha'ak blood in me. I did feel diffrent, though I was having a hard time putting my finger down on exactly how I felt diffrent. Yestorday I was just trying to survive one day at a time and maybe make some money in the process, today.... Logically I knew that I shouldn't feel anything towards the bugs or against their attackers, but I did. I felt somehow attached to the mothership, and the very thought of these attackers seemed to stir a great anger inside of me. It was almost as if it had been MY friends and family that had been slaughtered not some alien bugs.

"So what do we do now?"

"That is for you to decide. The queen is not a leader of war, that is your place, Prince." The title felt akward to my ears, and it wasn't the first time. I was just a Joe nobody, then I became the Hero of the Federation, and now I was the Prince of the Kha'ak? The universe definatley had a since of humor. But it didn't matter how many titles were dropped on my shoulders I still didn't feel like I deserved them. I save my own ass and wind up the Hero of the Federation, I accidentally touch an alien and now I am a prince? They were both fancy titles but they both meant nothing.

I tried to think about what I should do. What they wanted from me sounded simple enough, destroy their enemies. But how? I didn't even know who the enemy was or where they were at. I didn't even know the first thing about warfare, or how to build an army. I needed information but Where was I to get it? I needed to think smaller.

"You said that we need Nividium, right? How much?"

"We need lots of it. The Mothership is equiped to be able to quickly process entire astroids. When we are close to one she will it's essence and extract the pure Nividium from the rest of the astriod. Normally we would keep a stock pile of it, however our supplies are depleted. We have enough to create a couple of small ships but we will need to find more soon." As we continued to walk I started to feel more familiar with the area we were in, as if I had been here before.

"Krystal, have we been to this part of the ship before? I feel like I know where we are."

"No my Prince, this is a new area of the ship." It was odd I could have sworn that I had been through this part of the ship before. As we kept walking the feeling kept getting stronger and strong until I was convinced that I knew where I was. I started to lead the way while Krystal feel back with a sly smile. I turned left and then right and then...

I rounded another corner to find myself starting out a massive window facing forward from the ship. Through it I saw the debris and the wormhole.

"How did I know this was here?" I asked walking over to the window and placing my hand on the cold glass.

"You are becoming more in-tune with the ship. In time you will not need me to guide you even through areas where you have never been before. You will just know." As I watched the wormhole shutter slightly, signalling that it would only be open for a little while longer.

"We have to leave, if we stay here any longer we will be stranded here."

"As you command my Prince." She said and then the ship began to move forward towards the wormhole, lasers firing from it's cannons to clear a path.

Moments later we emerged from the other side of the wormhole to find ourselves surrounded by an Argon Military task force.

"They are charging their weapons!" Krystal said looking to me. I felt anxiety flood into me though I knew it wasn't my own.

"Get me a communication link, I need to talk to them!" A screen flashed to existence in front of me displaying a middle-aged argon sitting in the command chair. Shock flashed briefly across his face though he quickly regained his composure .

"This is unexpected, has the hero of the federation turn traitor?"

"No sir, I am now in command of this ship, and under commonwealth laws it is now mine. Stand down and I can explain everything."

"That's a negative you trade ship came and got us when a piece of debris floated through the wormhole bearing marking of the AFS Allson unless you have a damn good excuse why it was destroyed then I think it best if we play it safe and scuttle your ship."

"The Allson was destroyed fighting an unknown vessel that was chasing this one. They gave their lives to save this ship." I glanced over to Krystal "Can you show them the ships that attacked?" She nodded her head and I turned back to the screen a the information was displayed. Shocked and then recodnishing flashed across the Captain's face. When it was over he shook his head.

"Alright you have bought yourself some time. The brass is going to want to talk to you."

----------

"Isaac it is good to see you." The Prime Minister said a he shook my hand "I am sure you remember Admiral Bane." He said indication the man standing at his side.

The Prime Minister had asked me aboard Argon One to discuss "matters of utmost importance" which I suppose sounded a whole lot more diplomatic the "why the hell are you flying an enemy ship?" I shook the Admiral's hand and then we took seats around the conference table. After we were all seated the prime minister turned on a holoprojector and brought up images similar to the ones I had given to the captain who had err.... welcomed... me back to argon space.

"What I am about to tell you is classified top secret," The admiral began, "We call them the Omincron Channel Virus or OCV for short. Currently unknown to most of the citizens of the common wealth, the Omnicron Channel that was recently discovered and settled came under attack from these ships. They seem to be fully robotic and refuse all attempts to comunicate with them, instead they persist in attacking at every oppertunity, at every weakness. At this point they have completely overran all of the Omnicron Channel and are believed to be about to attack our defences at Blueish Snout. It is my belief that if they do so then they will overwhelm our defenses there within fourty-eight hours." The admiral paused for a second to let me absorb the information. "Their shilps are vastly superior to even our best. We are trying to hold the line while we search for a weakness but at the moment the future looks bleak."

"Wait you mean this isn't about you wanting to blow up my new ship?" I was suprised by the way the conversation was going. I had expected them to demand that I turn over control of the mothership to them, not start telling me state secrets about some new enemy.

The admiral switched the holoprojector to an image of the mothership. "First off I want to apologise for the actions of Commedore Brent, he lost a lot of friends and family in the Kha'ak war. You were correct that by commonwealth law you are now the owner of that ship and we will honnor that law. That being said I know more about that ship then you might think. We scanned your ship. We know that you are not the only one on board. We know that it is not mearly a carrier but a mothership with the ability to create ships from Nividium. However you seem to be able to control it, and that is a first." I started to respond but the admiral held his hand up stopping me as he continued, "I don't care how you do it. All I know is that we need all the allies we can get and your looking promising with the ability to instantly create ships. As things go right now we will lose this war, but with your help maybe we can change that."

I had not expected this, I felt blindsided. I had walked in here expecting to defend my right to a ship but instead I was being asked to you the ship to save the commonwealth?

"I don't know what to say Admiral, this is all very unexpected I am I mere captain not a general waging wars. I'll need time. The ship isn't ready, it was very heavily damaged durring the fight and is still in the process of repairing it's self, and I will need Nividium, lots of it."

"We can't help you with that. All of our assets and resources are tied up. All we can offer are the standard mercenery commission for any help you can offer us. You will effectively be a mercenery required to bring your own gear but paid well for it."

"I don't know what to say Admiral other then I'll do my best. It is going to take time to locate as much Nividium as I will need, and more time to make and arm the ships."

"Don't take to long the fate of the commonwealth hangs in the balance."

--------------------

What do ya'll think so far? I'll start the DiD either today or tomorrow, I had a lot done already but then XM-O 1.00 was released and it was not compatible with the beta so I have to start from the beginning.... which is where we are now at.

Here's to hoping the story will be longer then the prologue

I'm glad to see that the Mothership can be bring into the game in a credible way. That is your story though, mine would have been different because, well, I know the mod :) For instance, if you start at rep 10 with the race you give your allegiance to is because of the Mothership. They have you on their side, and they are grateful for it. It's the same fear as other races that lead them to give you 10 rep. Also, the Mothership is not unique, but you're not supposed to know that when you start XM-O :) (and this may change in the future)

Anyway, good job ; don't change anything !

EDIT : and I hope you play on the recommended difficulty level ; because it's god damn hard :)

I have vision of where I see this going. The objectives are the same as yours (of course) but I imagine my story of the journey there is a lot different from yours.

Assuming I live long enough to realize those dreams. I am playing on the recommended level after all.

In XM-O I have found that at the beginning Perk Points are by far the most important thing to aquire, then Nividium and finally credits. So in short those are my priorities. I intent to use the Serenity to do Taxi/Weapons Dealer/Smell of Napalm missions to quickly gain perk points and gain access to better ships and better payouts for missions (as payout in XMO is greatly effected bny difficulty, and higher difficulty is bought with perk points. I have also found that missiles are an amazing resources and will be using them. Until I unlock the Kyon weapons missiles are ALL I will be using. I have found the 10 wasps fired from a m5 kills just about any fighter craft in the game without scratching the hull of the m5. It is expensive to do however it is very effective.

Chapter 1: A new ship

The trip from Argon One back to the Mothership felt dull. Somethng just seemed off about the discoverer. It felt empty, void, lifeless. I tried to shake the feeling, I had flown the discoverer many of times and had never before felt such a feeling of lonelyness. Trying to ignore it as best I could I navigated back to the mothership.

Flying into the hanger of The Mothership I found a small reception awaiting me. As I landed the discoverer Krystal emerged from one of the numerous openings into the hanger flanked by several Kha'aks. Each one stood six foot tall and resymboled a giant preying mantis with hands. I felt myself gulp as the Kha'ak fanned out from Krystal to form a line as they approached me. Where did they come from? I thought as I took a step back, fearing the worse. Did they just use me to gain access to Argon Space? Was this all a trap?

"What's going on?" I asked my voice slightly trembling as I took another step back. Krystal seem oblivious to my anxiety as she continued to approach with the bugs seemingly in step with her.

"Welcome back, my prince." As they grew closer my options raced throgh my head. My hand drifted downwards toward where I kept my blaster strapped to my leg. I couldn't see any kind of weapons on the bugs, however something about the bugs made me thing that if they got close enough they wouldn't need any. If I can just make it back inside the discoverer I can warn the Admiral and maybe even escape. I thought easing back towards m ship. Krystal didn't seem to notice as she continued, "These are the first of your vassels. Newly born and ready to serve their prince."

My mind just froze. Vassels? Newly born? I tried to process this new data as the Kha'ak as one all bent knee and kneeled before me. Crystal seemed to laugh slightly at what I could only assume was a very shocked expression on my face. "I dont understand... Where did they come from, why are they kneeling?"

"When you entered into the matrix that holds the queen you absorbed some of our DNA, but the queen also absorbed some of yours. It sparked her reproductive cycle and she is now reproducing. It is hard to explain, as Kha'ak reproduction is nothing like yours. Now that you have activated her reproductive cycle she will continue to produce more Kha'ak untill there is no longer any space for them, though this will take a long time."

"Wait are you telling me that I MATED with the QUEEN and these are my CHILDREN!?!"

"Yes and no. You did initate the process, and the Queen does have some of your DNA, however the drones do not. Drones are created when the Queen is not exposed to Nividium, her reproductive organs sense this and create drones to facilitate recoverery of more Nividium. But your DNA is not used for this."

I felt so relieved, I had momentaraly feared that I had accidentally caused some sort of mutant crossbreding program. Now that fear of mutant space insects was past and I did not seem to be in any immediate danger my curiousity began creaping its way back into my head.

Each of the drone had remained motionless through out the entire exchange, each kneeling while they glazed at the floor.

"What is your name?" I asked approaching one of the drones. The drone just looked at me and cocked it's head to one side.

"They don't have names, even if they did it wouldn't mean anything to them. They have no concept of self, only a concept of the Hive and of the greater good. They live to serve, and do not understand more then that."

"So their slaves?" I asked staring into the multifaceted eyes of the drone.

"No slaves are forced to do the will of others, drones are driven by a primal urge to do the will of the Hive. A drone taken away from the hive will wander aimlessly, passing by food and water until it dies of exposure. They live to serve but they also serve to live." The drones all turned as one to look at Krystal and then stood up and started to leave the hangar.

"Where are they going?" I asked watching them leave.

"There is much to do around the ship, and they have many tasks. But enough about them, the Queen wanted me to give you a present. She noticed how lonely you got away from us, so she created a ship for you." Krystal said as she waved towards the back of the hangar. Purple lights lit up and a interceptor sized fighter craft flew towards us and landed not 20 feet away. "Much was lost recently however we were able to remember how to create this and thought that it might be better for you then your old ship. Unfortunetly we could not get the weapons and shields right so we did the best we could and gave it 2 1 mj shields and 2 IREs. It is capable of equiping 5 mj shields, and our powerful kyon beam emitters however we still working on how to recreate those.. maybe with more time?"

"It's beautiful." I said surprising myself by actually meaning it. Logically it was a little ugly, not anything like the slick designs I was used to, but instead more of a geometery puzzle. Yet still I was draw to it like a magnet. "This is my new ship."

I had to fly it, but first I wanted to get rid of my old discoverer and use that money to find some better shields for my new ship. I talked idling to krystal about our need to explorer and find Nividium to make more ships, and she informed me that she would have several scout ship created. I still was not used to this ask and you shall recieve stuff. Anyhow while she set about that I flew the discoverer to the shipyard and asked one of the drones to follow me in the intercepter, to my suprise it did, and it did so well. I sold my discoverer for 1 million credits due to some old drone I had in the storage bay. After the sell was final and I had my money in hand I headed back to the intercepter and asked the drone to let me fly it back. The interceptor flew like a dream, fast and agile I quickly fell in love. After a few test runs and some testing I headed back to the Mother ship. I tried to strick up a conversation with the drone however it did work out. It responded to any request I asked of it unless it was personal. Even when i asked it how it felt today it just stared at me blankly and the reported that it was not damaged in anyway.

Moments later I sat the intercepter down and thanked the drone who just looked at me with it's head cocked to the side. Steping out of the Interceptor Krystal meet me with a smile. "Did you enjoy it?"

"Very much so, it is a marvolous ship."

"Good, the two scout you asked for were completed and sent out to explorer like you requested." She stated as we walked out of the hanger bay and started walking to the window I had found that first day.

"That fast? I didn't realise it was such a quick process."

"It is. My prince the Queen grows restless, what do we do next? What is the plan?"

I let the question sit as we finished our walk and then staring out the window I answered her, "Nividium. We search for Nividium."

Chapter 2: Taxi, Taxi, Taxi.

----------

Captain Tommy Johnson was nervous. It had been two days since he had last heard from his boss, just before Isaac had gone through the wormhole. At the time Johnson had waited and waited and then, fearing the worst, he had raced back to the core and informed the Navy hoping that they might be able to save his boss. Now after the Navy almost destroyed his boss' new ship, and then since then had kept it under strict guard, Johnson thought Isaac must be mad at him for calling them in.

"Hey Tommy, we are being hailed from the Kha'ak ship." Andrew his co-pilot said he face painted with the same anxious. Shit, well this was a good job while it lasted

Tommy flipped the comma panel on to find Isaac on the other side as he expected. "Morning Tommy, did ya miss me?" He said with a smile

"Isaac I'm sorry about calling the Navy in. I was worried and feared the worst."

"Don't worry about it, I would have done the same thing in your place. Listen I have some work I have to do, but I want you to continue as normal, find contracts when you can and look for any good trades when you can't. I am opening the company account to you to help facilitate things, cut me out of the middle and all. I'll bump your commission up to 20% to make up for the added responsibility." Tommy felt surprised, he had worked with Isaac for several years now and Isaac had never trusted him with the money before, much less leaving him in charge of acquiring the contracts and everything!

"Ah thank you sir, I won't let you down."

"I know you won't, I have to go, important be stuff and all..." And with that he cut the line.

"Well that was odd." Andrew said, his face pinched in confusion

"Yeah but the job is clear enough." Tommy flipped on the local missions assistant to pull up offered mission in Argon Prime. First thing that caught his eye was a group of manufacturing officials looking for a taxi ride from the PALC forge to the ore mine in the hole. Tommy opened up a comms line and quickly negotiate a deal. A short while later the big wigs were on board and Tommy was firing up the jumpdrive.

"Not exactly the nicest accommodations I have ever been in." The lead big wig said after insisting on on ridding in the cockpit instead of the cargohold with the rest of the passengers.

"Yeah but it gets from point A to point B. Why are yall headed out to The Wall anyhow?"

"Not that it is any of your business, but we are interested in acquiring a contract for them to ship ore to our station." Well that makes since Tommy thought.

The jumpdrive fired and the Serenity jumped through the wormhole and into The Wall. Moments later the Big Wigs were transferred to the mine and Tommy dropped 222k credits into the company account. He had held 40k out from the contract that he split evenly between himself and Andrew.

"Not a bad payday for an hours worth of work." Andrew said smiling at his new account balance

"Not at all." Opening up the mission assistant Tommy found another group of big wigs looking for a ride. This time it was officials from the wheat farm in Cloudbase Northwest wanting a ride to a cahoona bakery in Cloudbase Southwest. A quick trip later and he added another 250k in the corporate account and 50k for him and Andrew.

{easy mission unlocked for two perk points}

Tommy also found a light shield factory in Elaine's Fortune that wanted 5 IREs though they only paid 20k for the delivery. The day was getting late so Tommy went ahead and docked at the local Trade station to find a room for the night and spend a little of their new wealth.

"Well shit Tommy 50 grand a peice for a days work isnt to bad for a days work. What are you going to spend yours on?"

"Naw it ain't. I going to save mine, we keep up like this and we will have enough money to start our own enterprise."

"Never thought of that."

----------

Isaac had spent the day searching for Nividium roids after making a short detour to Kingdom End to buy a couple 5mj shields to equip on the Interceptor. He managed to search the northern core systems but he had not had any luck finding any Nividium. Well no one said it was going to be easy.

--------------------

Behind the scenes:

I am actually exploring myself as the scouts don't spend time looking for roids. I found an easy way to do it though. I picked up a satellite that was deployed and then flew into a new system dropped that sat, and then picked it up. I then set autopilot to the next system an then check the astroids report in the player console to see if there was any Nividium roids in the system. Later i found out that the mothership was initially equipped with 5 advanced satellites in its cargo that i could have grabbed. Opps :-) As I was exploring i picked up any missions that I knew I could complete (at this point I was looking for taxi, smell of napalm, and weapons dealer, and heavy convoy missions though all I seemed to run into was taxi missions, but they are my favorite since they pay well) after I accepted a mission I would then just order the Serenity to complete it for me with it set to notify me when its order was complete. Worked well though.

I switch perspective to the crew of the Serenity since they are slightly more intresting at the moment the Isaac is since all he did through this time was jump from system to system. It also help to add some more charscters to the mix. Do yall like it or should i focus more on what Isaac is doing?

FYI, when you tell your scouts to scan asteroids, they will scan every asteroids, even those your satellites don't see. An the console can display all Nividium of the universe (40 jumps cover every sectors).

I'm at H-15 day 1 and I have 800 Million credits :) And... it's not enough !

-Average Mission Unlocked-

----------

The Next day proved to be no better for Isaac, as he searched the core Argon sectors from top to bottom without finding so much as a crumb of Nividium. He was pleased though when he checked up on the Serenity to find that Captain Tommy had turned a decent profit the day before and was already shipping several loads of mass drivers to a couple of stations in The Wall and Herron's Nebula. It wouldn't make much money but every bit counted, right? Towards the end of the day, Isaac fly his ship through the gate to Kingdom End and then boosted his way through to Rolk's Drift, hoping to maybe find some Nividium in the Boron's homeland. As he cleared the gate in Rolk's Drift he launch his sensor drone, silently counting the time for it to relay him the data he needed.

[Scan Results: Seven stations, Boron. Debris: Likely from asteroid minning. Four Class 1 asteroids: Composition unknown.]

That's the only down side to this asteroid scanning business, the sensor drone could find the roids but it couldn't scan them. Calling the drone back to his cargo hold, Isaac set off to scan the roids. First one, Silicon. Second one, Ore. Third one, Ore. Damn, just another useless sector. Fourth roid....... Nividium, 116 million Metric Tons. Holy Shit! Pay load!

I opened my mind up and searched through the cosmos, trying to find the mothership. It wasn't easy, I was new to this hive mind thing. But finally I found what i was looking for. Crystal's sweet voice spoke to me as if she was sitting right next to me.

"My prince! Your Kha'ak powers are growing I see." I didn't know about these "Kha'ak powers" but my ability to communicate with her did seem to be improving.

"So it would seem Crystal. I have found Nividium in Rolk's Drift, please tell the queen to come with due haste." I spoke the words, though how she heard me I still did not understand. She laughed softly at me.

"My prince, do you know it is not necessary to speak to be heard? The queen is thrilled at your news we should be arriving........Now" As she spoke the Mothership emerged from the gate just south of me, "Will you be joining us?"

I didn't need to be asked twice, quickly turning my ship toward the hangars, and bringing it in to land. No sooner then I had set down then several drones emerged from nearby and set about seeing that the ship was still in mint condition. I turned and made my way through one of the many doors leaving the hangar to where I could since that Crystal was waiting for me.

As I walked into the room adjacent to the hangar Crystal rushed over to me and hugged me warmly. I could feel her warms skin touching mine, and briefly I forgot that she wasn't human, I forgot that she was just an android. As she stepped back I felt my cheeks warming, embarrassment flushing my face. She smiled sweetly at me as she gestured toward the door. As we walked out of the room and down a corridor her hand snaked its way into mine.

"We have missed you, I have missed you." I felt my cheeks getting warm again, as I tried to push down the embarrassment.

"I have missed being here too. It's weird to me, this is not my home yet I feel more at home here then anywhere I have ever lived before. It's like I have spent my life moving from place to place, searching for here." We talked while we walked, turn after turn. Finally we came to the veiwport at the front of the ship. It had come to be my favorite place, which such an amazing view of space. The asteroid I had found floated in front of us, a massive ball filled full of the building materials for my fleet.

"What happens next?" I asked turning towards her, our hands still interlocked. She turned to face me her face beaming as she spook.

"It will take us several days to fully absorb the asteroid. The process has already begun, even though you can't see anything." Suddenly a look of concern crossed her face, "My Prince, A Boron Military Ray and several Barracudas just exited from the jump gate and are quickly approaching us." Why were the boron's sending a task force after me?

"Can you hail the ray?" Crystal nodded and then waved slightly as a holographic display appeared on the screen depicting a rather confused looking squid.

"This is Captain Isaac, how may I help you?" I asked trying to be as polite as possible, no since in angering the owners of the only Nividium i had so far found.

"I am Fleet Marshal Kuta'Na. We detected your ship here and believed it to be another Kha'ak attack. What is the purpose of your visit to our space?"

"I am here under orders of Admiral Bane. I need this asteroid for the war effort, and after that I will..."

"General Bane has no authority here. That asteroid is Boron property and it will stay as such. I am on orders to see you and the abomination you call a ship out of Boron territory. You have one hour to comply." And with that the line went dead. I looked to Crystal confused at how the boron had acted.

"That was very rude. Can you call Admiral Bane from here?"

"Of course, just a moment." It took longer this time but within a minute a new screen popped to life with Admiral Bane on it.

"Isaac, it's good to see you. How goes the search?"

"Well I found Nividium, however it's in Rolk's Drift and the Boron Military are refusing to let me have it. Is there anyway you can help?" Admiral Bane set back and seemed to ponder it for a minute.

"Not directly however Admiral De'Wolf technically has command over all allied forces, including the Boron Military. I'll call him and he should be able to talk some since into them. Hold on a minute." The holoscreen changed to a waiting screen for several minutes. I felt nervous, the ray was currently circling the mothership and I felt like a fish caught in a net. If this didn't work... Bane came back on the line.

"Alright, the Borons won't like it but they can't refuse and order from him. They wont both you anymore." No sooner then he finished his sentence then the ray started to move off towards the gate. "Admiral Bane has made similar arraignments for you with the rest of the allied forces, so you should have any problems with them either. Good hunting, Bane out."

----------

After the Ray left Crystal and I headed down to a cafeteria where several drones were eating. As we came into the room a drone came up to us a guided us to a table where it served us Beef Steaks with some sort of alien vegetable that reminded me of green colored mashed potatoes. To my surprise Crystal actually ate with me.

"I didn't know you could eat."

"Of course I can silly." Krystal replied with a jovial expression. "I'm and android not a robot. I have all of the same functions as a human. The only difference is that I was created by a machine. I still require food for nourishment."

"When you say all the functions, do you mean ALL the functions?" I asked trying to hint.

"What do you mean, of course I mean all if I say all." I sighed, this was going to take a more direct approach.

"I guess what I am asking is, do you have a functioning reproductive system?"

"Of course. I am equipped with all of the necessary functionalities for reproduction. Why do you want to know?" I blushed furiously.

"Oh no reason, I was just curious."

We finished our food which was quite good and then i retired to a room that had been assigned to me. "Room" was not quite the word for it. "Room" implies a certain amount of smallness, a kind of roomy feeling. This felt more like a massive biodome. I was fairly confident that you could fit two or three full sized mansions inside of my "room." I felt a little off trying to sleep in such a wide open space, but at least the bed was comfy!

Before I fell asleep I checked on the status of the Serenity. I was pleased to find that they had had another lucrative day, running two more passenger transports and profiting a good 900k credits before they had put in for the night. I'll have to remember to give Tommy a raise.

I awoke the next morning and made my way to the forward observation deck to find that the asteroid had greatly shrunk while I slept. At this rate it would be completely absorbed before I found another on! Crystal met me a couple of minutes later and I made my goodbyes as I got back into the interceptor. Launching from the Mothership I flew to the Terracorp headquarters in Home of Light where I bought explorer software and a transporter for my ship. As I launched from terra corp the incoming message light turn on on my HUD. I pushed a button and Admiral Ban appeared on my screen.

"Isaac, good to see you. I hope that everything with the Boron's turned out well?" I nodded my head and he continued. "It was not gone well for us. two hours ago our defenses at Blueish Snott were over run. We have set up new defenses guarding the exits to bluish snott but it is only a matter of time before they are over run as well. I also have an urgent matter that I could use your help with. We recently captured a Xenon Q and currently trying to reverse engineer it in The Hole. However we have detected a large force of Xenons headed towards it, most likely intent on destroying it. I already have defenses in place but I could always use another fighter. What do you say, care for a little fight today?"

I told him that I would be willing to help and then cut the link before heading north through the gate to Argon Prime. My interceptor wasn't really equipped for battle. The only lasers it could mount were Particle Accelerator Cannons and Alpha Kyon Emittors. Now from what i understand Kyon emitters were powerful weapons however no one sold them as they were a special Kha'ak weapon that no one had ever managed to reproduce. The Queens was working on trying to remember how to create them but as of yet she had had no luck. PAC are good weapons however they were not really good enough for a pitched dogfight especially since the interceptor was only lightly shielded. So I stopped by the equipment dock and picked up 55 wasp missiles instead. The weapons dealer told me I was crazy jumping into a battle with no lasers but i just shrugged and paid the man his 1,853,000.

Launching from the Equipment Dock I made my way to The Hole and linked up with the rest of the defenses forces. Admiral Bane had not lied when he said that he had gathered a fleet but i could immediately see why he wanted more pilots. Guarding the Q were 6 Argon Corvettes, and a squadron of fighters, it was pitiful, but most of the military's force must be caught up trying to push back the OCV. I commed the lead ship and let them know I had orders to join them and then I set up to wait. I didn't wait long.

With in an hour of my arrival Xenons ships suddenly emerged from hyperspace all around the fleet. How they did it i do not know, but they did. one minute nothing the next 2 Qs, 4 Ps, 8Ls, and 4 LXs appeared from nowhere. The Xenon's didn't seem to care about anything but their lost ship making straight for it and ignoring the rest of the fleet. I quickly took advantage of this and dropped in behind one of the LXs and let loose my missiles. Now math tells us that a ship with 100k of shields and 100k of hull can take 10 missiles that deal 20k damage, however the Xenon ships had some sort of antimissles defense that wiped out a good potion of the wasps before they even go near the LX. However the good thing about missiles is that I have a lot of them. In the end I fired 18 missiles at it and it was to busy trying in vain to dodge them to even fire back at me. As i dodged around the debris from the LX I could see that the Q's were fully engaged with each other and the Argon corvettes. However the Enemy Q's had already taken massive hits and one was leaving a cloud of fuel in it's wake. But back to ships my own size... The Argon Squadron hadn't been idle either and had killed several of the Ls themselves. I quickly found myself another target, an L that had so far managed not to take any damage and I shoved 10 wasps down it's thought. It was very pleasing indeed to watch as it tried desperately to evade them. but in the end it too was reduced to particles to fine to see. One of the enemy Q's suddenly went supernova apparently to close to the other and the shockwave of the first completely collapsed the shields of the second leaving it exposed to the Argon Corvettes. I, on the other hand, found the last surviving LX and sent a volley of 12 wasps at it. Now when i say "volley of twelve" I need you to understand that each wasp is loaded with 8 warheads a piece. So a volley of 12 looks a lot more like a volley of 96. Very pretty when your on this side of them, very deadly when your on their side of them. As the dust settled I launched my remaining missiles at several of the remaining fighters however the kill shoots went to the Navy guys. When the last of the fighters was put down for good, I checked my sensors to fid that the Navy corvettes had already mopped up the last of the Xenons taking only minimal losses.

"Not to shabby out there pilot." The leader of the task force said to me over the comm. "It's always welcome to have an able hand like you around. I'm transferring 2.24 million to your account for the 3 ships you destroyed as well as 1.72 million for the mission in general. Good work. Oh and Admiral Bane wanted me to let you know that Getsu Fune and Heretic's end both came under attack from the OCV. However both are expected to hold. The troubling thing is that we don't know where they came from."

I could feel the adrenaline pumping in my veins. I had always loved flying but this was the first time I had every been in real combat. God it felt good. The news about the OCV was troubling though. It reminded me of how the Xenon ships had just popped in from nowhere. Could the two be connected?

I started to head back to Boron space to continue the search for Nividium. While I was on my way I checked up with the Serenity to find that she had delivered some more passengers for another 250k but was out of contracts and now was just running cargo in Ore Belt to try and make a few bucks. Well better the nothing I guess. As I got closer to Boron space I felt Crystal reach out to me.

"My Prince, we have absorbed the asteroid."

"That is good, I am on my way to look for more but it maybe awhile."

"You should first come here. We have used some of the Nividium to do repairs and have recovered the ability to make our weapons. When you get back we will arm your Interceptor as all Kha'ak ships should be armed."

"You can make the Kyon emitters?"

"Yes my prince."

Well that was enough for me!
