XI Payout?

So I did one XI and killed 16 Xenon fighters. I got ~ $6M.

I just did another and killed 77 Xenon fighter. I got ~ $4M.

I think XI missions are more of a capping opportunity.

Did you get the killing blow on a Xenon J or K in that first one? Those earn a *lot* of money.

Given that none of the ships spawned by a XI will ever bail, I doubt it.

As said pjknibbs, the reward of a XI depends more on the type of ship destroyed than the numbers.

I didn't think so. There was an M1 firing at it during the first mission and I was trying avoid it because I didn't know how strong it was.

The second mission had a J jumping in and out of sector dropping off fighters. I didn't think it was going to end because sometimes the J was close enough to fire on, sometimes not. What confused me was the J eventually showed 0 hull and full shields.

After a long time, it quit jumping in and the mission ended. I was close to 0 shields on my M7 after having to leave the sector once to let my shields recharge.

I didn't think so. There was an M1 firing at it during the first mission and I was trying avoid it because I didn't know how strong it was.

If you were close enough for your turrets to hit it, it's entirely possible you got the killing shot--which is all that counts; the M1 could have knocked out the capital ship's shields and 99.999% of the hull, then you hit it with a mass driver round that destroys it and you get the credit.

In any case, that's the most likely explanation for the discrepancy in the reward--it's not just the number of ships you destroy, it's what type they are.

(The N's pay something too, but you can see them only at the lowest combat ranks, so hardly ever.)

The L/M ratio is about 4/1 at higher levels. Obviously, a 6 mil reward cannot include a J.

It looks like I must have killed the K in the first encounter without realizing it, as Pj thought.

The second encounter adds up almost perfectly with killing a bunch of L's and M's.
