Yes, you can stop the test now! The fact that you started the game (or any other application) during the test run may have invalidated some of the test results which could have identified which core(s) were the weaker ones. I just cannot see the OS trying to run the game on a core already under a capacity stress test.

I had envisaged you just running the test (only) overnight and then seeing the results in the morning for example. The aim was to confirm or eliminate a core weakness issue, and then use that info appropriately to perhaps move on to other areas such as temperature control or power supplies etc.

hehe ok i stoped the test this morning. as far as i can tell it was testing all 8 threads or what ever. as the time stamps for all of them where recent. but i could easly just be reading it wrong.

what i will do is run it over night (and this time only over night) with as little on as possable, to make sure its fine.

however i sadly have more bad news. today after i stoped the test and restarted the computer, i ran the new save game, the one i made after the clean install. after running it all day it has infact crashed the same way my old saves were crashing, by being in a busy system with seta on (besides the other crashes like gving comands after using seta, or just going form point a-b with seta on).

so it seems the crash where if i am in a busy system with seta on, does effect even the new save i made after the clean install.

for sure tho tonight i will run that prime 95 again, and this time have as little on as possable. to see what happens.

thank you very much for sticking with me on this ^_^

After the overnight test, which I suspect may show all clear, the next step will be to go in-game and try to get a crash in a busy sector on SETA but with temperature-monitoring (gpu and cpu) running. The monitoring application is usually found on your motherboard support disk or can be set up in the BIOS using your motherboard support manual - or a freeware one can be downloaded and set up for your motherboard and cpu although that entails more work. We are looking for any overheating issues under load here.

The same monitor may also monitor your system rail voltages and check that your psu is stable under high demand.

The idea is that the Temp and Voltage logging from the monitor survives any crash in-game and so we can see what was going on with the system at the time of the crash.

sorry about the late reply.

yes the over night test went fine with nothign running.

i took the advice and got some things to monitor heat and voltage. tho voltage seems to be a little harder to monitor for when it crashes, maybe i am just suing the wrong softwear.

as i said the voltage sadly i cant seem to recored to see what it looks liek as it happend. tho i did take screen shots of it before i ran the game, and have a screen shot of after the game crashed.

post the game crashing.

the numbers are value, min, max.

as to heat. thats a little easyer to see kinda.

gpu

the game its self tho crashed at 19:23:21

so both max temp for cpu and gpu, where achived about an hour before the crash. (at lest as far as i can tell by windows log).

i dont understand how to read the voltage, but for the heat it looks ok?

the only thing i noticed that looked strange was these numbers below

08/08/14 19:23:15 2980.79 149 144 140 142 19.3 147
08/08/14 19:23:20 2753.55 136 136 135 138 13.9 144
08/08/14 19:23:25 2820.39 135 136 133 136 18.6 140
08/08/14 19:23:30 2486.22 131 129 129 131 9.6 136

see that 19.3? that was 6 secs before the game crashed. every number in that coulme before it was 18-19.
i think thats the cpu usage. of cruse its gona drop when the game crashes. but it looks like it droped right before the game crashed. a litteral sec before the game crashes.

this is so far the only thing that jumped out at me, but i really have no idea what i am doing or what to look for, i just figuered it was important ^_^

thank you again ^_^

Hi, maintained graphs of temperatures and voltages that survive any crash so that you can look back at the time of the event in the graphs would be rather easier to interpret. I don't know if your monitor software does such graphs. I have used free-download SpeedFan in the past with older motherboards, but now my newer ASUS board has its own support tool that does it.

That said, your voltages and temperatures as sampled are not shouting out that there is/was a problem to do with the crash. I would expect the relevant cpu core to go a bit crazy just before a crash and then tail off as it goes off-load. More of a symptom than a cause I think.

i downloaded speed fan. while its neat to see the charts, i cant seem to get it t keep more then an hour worth of chart, nor can i figuer out how to tell it to show a perticuler time peried, for ex it just crashed and i wanted to get the info on it, but i dont see a way to stop it so it keeps messing with the data.

anywho, luckly i was right here as it crashed and got some screen shots of it

none of the voltages have any strange spikes at the time of the crash. tho its hard to read it as again i am not sure how to stop it and make it look at XYZ time.

hope this helps some ^_^

No I can't really judge any issues there without time and temperature scales to refer to, especially as I cannot directly compare what the cores are doing relative to each other.

With the voltages, I was not looking for spikes but for low readings just prior to crash. Still, this may all be too much complexity as nothing is leaping out at us from the work so far. Also if there were a serious system issue, I certainly expect to see it with other X games as well.

Let's just review all the usual X3R crash pointers:
Installation/patches - checked.
Codecs - checked.
Drivers & devices - updated & checked.
Drive space - checked.
System suitability, update and operation - checked.
In-game activity & duration on crash - random.
Error messages - generic unhelpful.
Background activity - minimised.

Only clue: - Does not like busy sectors.

I am running out of ideas here.

Try a clean system run of the game. By that I mean disconnect all non-essential USB devices such as controllers, webcams, microphones etc. Ensure all background applications and services are really reduced to the absolute minimum (GameBooster is a good free download tool for that). See how that goes.

sorry about that. after soem times messing around it seems i can get the program to log things. i dont know if it will keep the charts. or if the info will be any diffrent then what i had from the other program. but i am gona give it a shot ^_^

i can try the volts again for sure ^_^

this is a tuff nut to crack :O!

as to game booster, i already have that downloaded and runnign when i play x3, as it was suggested i use it for that other bug i was having.
for the usb stuff. i only have my headphones and joystick pluged in that can be removed. the 3rd thing would be my wireless keyboard and mouse adaptor that i could try to remove after i get SETA on. but i dont knwo if it will turn it off again. i can find out.

Thank you again ^_^, i will get to work on these things.

sorry about the late response. but at lest now i got a lot more info. ^_^

alright for starters as suggested i removed every single usb i could, including the wireless adaptor for my mouse/keyboard (after getting ti on SETA). sadly it still crashed. but at lest we can check that off now.

as to the logs. it took a lot of figuering out with time stamps and secs and things. but i figuered out how to read the logs it kept. luck would have it it even has the exsact sec it crashed (assuming my math was right). odly its in C and not F. but i hope it works.

anywho heres the log. the crashed happened (again my math) at 12868 secs into the log. + i added about 168 secs before it as well.

That looks pretty steady except that VCC1.5V is never 1.5V but cycles between ~ 0.8V and 0.2V every so often. I'm not too sure what that means in hardware performance terms though.

All I can suggest now is to make a save where you usually would soon and reliably experience a crash and then upload that to a fileshare site and link it here. If others can play that save for say 10 minutes without crashes then the issue would have to be hardware-related. If that save does crash on others' systems then that means the issue is in your save and must be related to your game as installed.
