Question about reserved trades and destroyed ships...
Is the reservation canceled fully if the inbound freighter is destroyed or capped? It occurred to me that we have no way of knowing as players and it might explain why some players economy dies fast and for others its a slower process.

A test might be to identify the trade destination, see how many wares are being bought in the trade menu and also on board the freighter. either wait for the production update in the trade computer or try and be quick about destroying the freighter and then checking the trade computer to see if the number of needed goods increased.

Good thinking, Batman

I guess we could also try destroying one of our traders trying to fulfill a player station order with the station set to not trade with others and with it having no owned trading ships. Easier to control but might not be follow the same rules though so the NPC trading angle is probably better.

The only thing about that is how player-property is "coded differently" (my best understanding as a simple explanation outside my knowledge-base) than that of NPC objects in the game. The (likely) immediate feedback of the player-property might not be representative of NPC owned objects, NPC trades, and controlled wares. The game handles these assets (at least a little) differently, from observation alone. Could be misleading myself but both could be easy to setup. Player-stuff might even provide a sort of control. Could find freighter with X wares going to Y and then destroy it. Get player-ship to have X wares trading with Y and destroy it.Sparky Sparkycorp wrote:

edit: an interesting third case would be to find a mirror player's manager-controlled ship if you could match X and Y.

This needs to be clarified by Egosoft, it is a really good point and it will help us, to help Egosoft in finding what exactly is funny about the economy.YorrickVander wrote:Is the reservation canceled fully if the inbound freighter is destroyed or capped? If your talking NPC ship to player station then yes if NPC to NPC station I believe the same is true. If your talking player ship to NPC or player station it will be in the log.YorrickVander wrote:Is the reservation canceled fully if the inbound freighter is destroyed or capped?
