This could help some of you

Link

A quicksave made just before the TS comes to dock and sell his E-cells.
This is not a fix, but if you want to continue the story..

My freighter also has 3 orders queued and refuses to pick up the energy cells. I've been hanging around the station but it refuses to move, but if I leave the area it follows me, despite me having removed it from my squad. Please address this Egosoft, I need my fix!

Hello, gyes. I've completed this mission (to buy cells and to sell).

After getting all discounts in sector where you must buy the cells, do it next way:
1. approach to the highlighted mission icon. then click it once.
2. then enter->(4)Trading
3. choose option to buy cells (100).
3.1 As was written by few post earlier, do not take additional mission, reject it.
4. then you can meet your freighter, and cling to it. just wait, while freighter performing your task (planned trips = 1).
5. After buying cells planned trips will be reset to 0 and you will receive message about completion buying.
6. Then fly to station, where cells must be sold.
7. Open all discounts (60-70% for profitsss) and repeat point number 1 (i.e. click mission icon once and etc, but now you have to sell cells).
8. After choosing option "sell" (through enter->(4)Trading), you must open mission manager (enter->(2)Info->(5)Mission manager) and then click on mission and then click Set active and Guidance (shaman's dancing  ).
9. Repeat point number 4 (shaman's dancing  ).

INFORMATION:

THERE IS NO FIX YET (as far as i know.)

The bug is caused by adding a queue to the freighter. If you go ahead and say: Buy E-cells, then sell E-cells the freighter will crash.

It has a capacity of -124614123 something and is not able to do the mission. The only workaround i currently know of is to download another gamefile that works.

You may want to try this. Works fine, just wait 5~ minutes then the e-cells will be sold correctly.

Managed to do the trade and the mission and here's how.

Don't do anything before the freighter is in the same zone as the offer.
Do the trade as described, make sure you select the correct station if you already have multiple E-cell sellers.
Do the mission while the freighter is making it's way to the trade point.
You will probably finish the mission before the freighter docks, I just babysat it from this point on.

profit.

It sounds like this will be an issue with trades past the tutorial as well...

I managed to get this to run smoothly first time on Version 1.1 English.

Hopefully the info below might help some people work out whats going wrong for them.

I did as it said as the commands popped up in the tutorial, however I wasn't able to buy exactly 100 energy cells so i believe i bought 111 or so. I then had to jump all the way to where you have to sell them, once the ship jumps in you get another message to head towards it. When you get close it tells you that whilst very close to a capital ship it pulls you along. I used this to get myself docked on the cap ship, and stood in the hangar bay until it was close to docking, at which point i got a message saying return to ship. Shortly after doing that the ship sold the energy cells.

Hopefully that might give those of you struggling with this an idea of which part its failing on. Also at that point i believe i had captain and defense officer on ship, and a marine boarding officer and engineer on the skunk.

When I made it to this mission it appeared that the ship just froze up when it came time to sell but when I looked closer at the ships around I noticed that there was already another ship on a docking path with the energy port. Once that ship docked and left my ship moved in to trade. I'd suggest making sure that your ship isn't just in a queue for the docking port, there may be another ahead of it.

I'm impressed how this issue was missed when the game was tested pre-release... Having the same issue, first the game did not recognize that I had already bought 100 E-cells, next when I try to sell them, without giving it any other orders, it gets stuck in "too many planned tasks" breaking the tutorial and any kind of progress that's to be made from the campaign.

Impressed wasn't the word I was looking for... rather, it's surprised.

It's quite an obvious bug, and how this was missed is baffling -- and makes me wonder about what the beta testers were actually doing (not that I'm bagging them, it just makes me feel a little curious).

I hope is Egosoft fixes this one as soon as they can. And I wouldn't mind being able to clear jobs that are assigned to this 'job queue' too (makes natural sense doesn't it?)

I guess I have to start again -- don't feel like using someone else's game save.

Hands-off trading and commercialism was my favorite part of X3. I always ended up starting with the Humble Merchant profile. It's unfortunate how buggy trading is.

I'm experiencing a bug where the stating I'm attempting to sell to doesn't recognize my ship's cargo.

I had tried this mission for the past 3 hours (yes 3 hours, not sure how I mange to tough out that long). But apparently this is what make or break the mission.

- After the ship arrived at the solar array I order to buy.
- Then take the highway out of the system.
- A few minute later I received a receipt from the captain and check to see I have 100 Ecell in the cargo hole. HOWEVER, AT THIS POINT MY PLANNED TRIP COUNTER STILL COUNT AS 1.
- Then when I order the ship to sell per the mission guidance, I notice somehow theslider are letting me sell 200 ecell while I only have 100 in the cargo hole.
- After this it's the same problem everyone else having, ship follow me around, sometime take a random trip to god know where.

I have no interest of using the custom save, since obviously even if I get passed this, the trade feature still will not work.

All you have to do is wait since the sector is heavily loaded with energy freighters waiting for clearance. So let's say that if there was 30 freighters waiting before your ship arrived, then you have to wait till they are finished.

Just gonna add my +1 to this. Stuck on this problem and I have no interest in using another players' save. Do I need to start all over? Is there a point to this at all? if trade is bugged then perhaps its just best to wait for a patch and start a new game then.

Having this problem too. The ship is sitting outside the dock not doing anything since the captain told me she was ready to offload goods.

I did that stupid additional mission : /

Pretty disappointing to run into a potentially save-breaking bug so early.

Restarted a game due to another game stopping bug further in the story only to get stuck on this E-Cell mission now. Cargo ship has 100 cells on it, try to sell to the designated port and it tells me my ship doesn't have any E-Cells on it... when ship info clearly shows 100.

That was after exiting and loading. Before doing that, I couldn't even get the cell E-cells option to show.

So if you try and buy the cells with your own ship, it takes your money, never gives you the cells, and never informs you that you should be using the trader ship?

I really want to like this game, but for something that was in development for 7 years, and for something they tried to make more intuitive from past X games, it actually feels more broken and less user friendly.

I was able to do the side mission (drop off the person at the asteroid) AND complete the energy cell mission. It took some experimenting but what I did was purchased the cells as instructed. My freighter acknowledged the pick mission. I then (before freighter arrives) picked and did the courier mission. I then SOLD the cells previously purchased. At this point I had the same issues as everyone else with the freighter just coming over but sitting some distance from the HOA asteroid. I tried setting the "Active" and "Guidance" but as soon as I did the freighter left the system. I managed to track it via the maps and found it went all the way back to where you pick it up in the first place. It then came all the back and parked. So, just for sheer frustration, I DID NOT re-buy cells but instead resold them. At this point, I click on "GUIDANCE" ONLY. The ship moved away from the asteroid and back towards where it had picked up the cells. I just watched it. It then turned around and came back and lined up with the asteroid drop off point just fine. Moved in and unloaded the cells just fine. From the time I set the "GUIDANCE" only to completion took about 15 minutes.
