Open the Plugin Manager, find the "Settings" menu, open "Mode", select to "Modified". |
Alright. I did that, and also set the manager to run admin, as its a steam version. Still no luck

Dear Cycrow,
Any movement on the "import ship from mod" function that currently isn't working?

the message is only really a warning. It might work for you, it might not. You could try to install scripts and see if they work.
the warning is there because of the way windows protects anything in Program files. It blocks access to files transparently, so programs trying to access them cant tell if they have access or not.
you can turn of UAC, the protection in windows that does this, you could run it in admin mode or adjust the rights of the various folders to help. Or, the best way to simply move the game out of program files completly.
i wouldn't put it in My Documents, i would just put it else where. Alot of people create a games directory, so something like C:\Games
if the game is in steam, then you can simply move the entire steam directory. Moving a single game out of steam is abit more tricky however |
Question, if i do this wouldn't it mess up my registry with steam and its games? or if i just drag all of the steam program folder w/ all the games to somewhere new will it be ok?

just move it elsewhere and run the steam.exe from the new location.
steam well then automatically adjust to the new location
steam is very good about being moved around

" Unable to extract scene files "
From the Package Creator. Started in Admin mode.
I'm getting this error msg when I try to pull ship data from a 3.2v of X3 TC. This folder is on the root of my C drive.
That's with the latest Plug In Manager Advanced. Run as Admin.
Win 7 x 64.
This is new for me.
Thanks, Tex.

So I ran into this problem ...
I'm trying to install a ship mod, the Asgard O'Neill from Cycrow's homepage, but the ship won't show up in the game. I've tested with other ship mods I have, but none of them show up in the game. Also, instead of ending up in the types folder as a TShips file, the data end up in a folder called Objects where it apparently doesn't do anything.
I don't know if I've done something wrong or if I have missed anything, or if it's the program acting up, but since I'm writing a DiD and the O'Neill is a critical part of it I sort of need it to work.
Any advice?
Edit: The game is patched to 3.2 and I'm running the latest version of the plugin manager, in case that has anything to say.
Edit 2: I also tried closing the plugin managed, and even rebooted the whole system in case that would help, but my ship still won't show up in the game.

So, to make a stab in the dark, could there be something between the version of the
microsoft app you use ( x86?) and the Win 7 x64 I'm running here?
Maybe a new x64 version of the plugin manager?
Thankx, tex.

import ship from mod wont work properly when trying to extract from the game files, as they are spread accross multiple files, rather than 1, and its possible the cat file you chose contains tships and not the scene files.
thats y you need to use the VFS version, which can find and grab files from the whole directory.
running Win 7 x64 shouldn't make a difference, as it can run 32bit applications just fine. and i run the same os anyways
making an x64 version is abit more trickier, i've already tried and failed.
it requires too many changes to get it compiled in x64

I tried the VFS version, but I crashed in a different way.
Your app opened showing X3 AP as the the game, the Steam vanilla
X3 TC folder / .exe and the no mod.
If I try to change the game to X3 TC I get an " Unhandled Exception error "
from Win 7. Continue just closes the VFS app.
I can change the Directory to an Egosoft install on the Root C drive
(in the VFS tile) but when I try to change the game again I get the
" unhandled exception " again and a crash to desktop.
Well I hope this sheds some light.
Thanks, Great app overall, tex.

Hello,
I have some problems with the Plugin Manager. I want to create a .xsp file of some ships. What I have are .bod and .bob files.
But whatever I do, the .xsp I do are not working.
What I've done is : open Creator > new ship > add the file to the ship > then I set some caracteristics randomly > then save to .xsp format
However the thing I done was broken. What did I wrong ?
Thanks
Edit : here are my tests : http://www.mundusbellicus.fr/Telechargements/Dreadnaught%20Tests.zip

@Cycrow
Not sure if someone has posted this error before but please have a look at the xsp convertor
The error is the following:
The procedure entry point ?FindData?$CLinkList@VC_File@@@@QAE_NPAVC_File@@@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library spk.dll
This while trying to convert a X3R/TC to X3TCAP ... btw PM version 1.47
Cheers
