Hi,

I want to start from scratch with AP but this time with some mods.

My biggest gripe is now, and has always been that newly purchased ships don't come with basic shields and weaponry as standard.

Can anyone suggest a AP comp mod that auto equips newly purchased ships.

And then any other recommended AP mods that enhance the experience would be apriciated.

Cheers

Alex

XRM is great, and has several different starts that can get you going much, much faster

ImprovedRaces 2.0 has a player ship purchase option that does exactly that (allows you to buy starting weapons and shields, though not for capital ships). You can disable the other options (race wars, etc.) and use only that.
You press the hotkey, select the target shipyard. It brings up a list of all the ship types you can buy from there.
You then pick a buyable ship, select its loadout (equipment, no/max shields, no/default weapons) and then how many you want. So you can pretty easily order a hundred fighters if you have the money.

I also second getting XRM.

I personally enjoy Gazz's complex cleaner (Massive complexes possible without total framerate death), universal autions (to sell the insane amounts of excess goods you will typically end up generating with such massive complexes), and marine repairs.
