AP gets it's badger Wink, he should have been great but in reality he lasted about as long as i can muster with the wife (if she isn't wearing the kylie mask i got her for her birthday)

as far as marvin, yes the radio was very good (still have the maxwell "metal" cassette tapes of it although they have now deteriorated so much they don't work) but i found using that radio voice and my imagination when reading made him the most manic depressive mofo ever Smile

Yeah, I heard that voice when reading too, but I will admit I do like the movie Marvin, it looked the way I always imagined him to be, not that minimal range of motion TV effort.

I still have the original episode 2, as recorded from the radio. I transferred it to mp3 long ago, after keeping the original locked away safe (once I knew they cut the Pink Floyd Marvin scene from the cassette release)

Have you got the new remastered edition? The difference in quality is pretty amazing. All I have to do is cut in the missing scene to make it perfect Smile

Watch the Clone wars Cartoon series (NOT the CGI version) for an explanation for the cough. (series 2 specifically) It's actually quite good.

I actually vaguely remember that original series, I miss it, that CGI version is crap compared to it.

I will disagree. His fight scene at the end was the only good thing in the movie, since he was really doing that jumping around.

The fight was good but it wasn't excellent, and the rest of his role in the film was really bad.

Ten minutes at the end doesn't make him a good character. In fact, i chuckled when i read the original post, because he was arguably the only character on the list to have no character. Wink

edit: and after what they did to him in the comic... oh dear. :/

I agree with mr.badger on that opening statement, that fight scene is up there among the best star wars duels, not at the tip top of them but it's still up there. Heck there is a comic featuring him against Wolverine and several situations with him against Darth Vader. I even found a picture with him fighting Xenomorphs, which was odd.

Also apothos, he did have a character, it was just filled with hatred and all things sith, so really it was a character that was consumed by the dark side. Which I think the movie was trying to convey Darth maul as, A representation of all things sith, (Minus force lightning and force choke).

As for the red, I totally agree, I never expected THAT coming.

Couldn't agree more! As a couple of hours entertainment, it's great. Got the extended version - not as good as the original!

Really enjoyed that film, right up to the end which (IMO) was such an anti-climax! Made me laugh when Samantha Carter complained about it in SG1 tho Very Happy

On the Star Wars thing. I'm interested in starting to read the star wars novels, but I have no clue where to start. Is there anyone here that can tell me?

Start with the Timothy Zahn books, the Thrawn trilogy (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising and The Last Command) are the best of his but his others are still better than the vast majority of the rest. If they don't get you into it maybe try a novelization of one of the films (i'd say the Episode III is the best of them, but if you're anything like me an OCDesque urge will make you want to read them in order).

What a coincidence, I happen to be re-reading that very moment. Surprised

Mr Zahn also wrote "Spectre of the Past" and "Vision of the Future." which
is probably the last in the timeline. However a lot of stuff has been written
by other authors in the time between those works.

Survivor's Quest takes part after that duology, i think it's latest of anything Thrawn related by Zahn.

Thanks, I'll go to my very favorite bookshop owner and get her to order them.

After I've explained why I ordered a Molly Harper book for my fiance.....

Not sure if this list is complete, but it gives you a good overview of when things are set.

I got Vector Prime, the first book of the New Jedi Order series, as a christmas gift with the novelization of Episode I in 1999. It had a heap of characters that i didn't have a clue who they were or how they related to everything/everyone else, but, as with most things, so long as you don't start in the middle of a series there's not much that you don't pick up along the way.

Those books i suggested pretty much deal with characters you'll already be familiar with as well as introduce a few important characters for other books should you continue reading.

Wow, no wonder I was finding it so hard to locate the first book.....

That's a lot of reading material, pretty cool Smile

Definitely going to start with the Thrawn books, it seems best after reading the summary.

Anyone Familiar with Supreme Commander? THAT was a sweet sci-fi game. It's sequel, forged alliance, sent shivers down my spine when I first started playing it. The Experimental units were MIND BLOWING.

Then Supreme Commander 2 came out and blew the whole awesomeness of the series up into dust... SC 2 was a complete dissapointment to me. Mainly because, while the experimentals in SC 2 were argueably as unique and well armed as in Forged alliance, they were far weaker endurance wise. And the AI used them alot more often. Which I found stupid.

I was expecting a heck of alot more out of Supreme Commander 2, I don't know what the hell Chris Taylor (The guy who came up with the series in the first place) Was thinking when he put SC2 into steam.

Favorite Sci-Fi Games:

Sins of a solar Empire

X3:TC

X3R (Just because of the sweet storyline)

Supreme Commander + Supreme commander Forged Alliance

Star Wars Battlefront 2 (ABSOLUTELY DOMINATED IN THAT GAME! I had a freaking 22.3 Kill to Death Ratio.)

Star Wars The force Unleashed 1 + 2 (Personally think the 2nd should have added on to the first instead of making a bunch of trade-offs, the carbonite war droids in the second installment are annoying as hell.)

EDIT: I LEFT OUT STARCRAFT 2 IN THAT LIST! Evil or Very Mad

7. The 5th Element
8. Star Trek
9. Back to the Future (Robert Zemeckis one)
10. Men in Black
Special mention to Stargate (the movie) that triggert tons of Sci-Fi material by adding gates. And now really making an effort to wrap this up before it get huge... Embarassed

Games:
1. X-BTF Smile
2. All other X games
3. Mass Effect (not had the last one yet so dont bug me about any endings Razz)
4. Homeworld (specially 2, really hope they pick it up and make 3)
5. Deus-Ex
6. Portal (?)
7. X-Wing Alliance

Characters:
1. Darth Vader (after seeing the new episodes)
2. Neo
3. E.T.
4. Mr. Spock
5. Captain Avatar (Star Blazers)
6. Optimus Prime (from comics series, movies are crap)
7. Yoda
