Some sort of jamming makes sense, useable only far from civilized systems. They'd be like a beacon, which would turn the local border patrol, etc. onto you if used near the major areas.

When far out from those areas or in completely isolated areas, you could use it to ambush convoys and loot them. Wink
It would sure add an interesting element to the game and allow you to plunder well until the inevitable military investigation patrol was sent out.

There could be natural areas that block communications as well, such as nebulas. Pirate bases would probably be built in such areas.

im surprised nobody picked up on the fact that if there is instantaneuos communications in X why then are we limited to 25km comm range? contradiction much???

but yeh id like to see some sort of comms jamming, makes pirating more interesting... can you get away with it? but to mke that more interesting youd perhaps need to stop any fighters getting away, make sure no space suits were left that could ID you and perhaps even introduce some sort of emergency beacon that ships could launch to get out of the jammers range and signal for help or at least notify people who it was if they are destroyed before help could get there, a bit like a "black box" concept.

what would also be interesting is if you could pick up different ID transponders, that way you could get into a fight, destroy a few ships but have the blame fall to someone else and perhaps instigate a war!! or use it to sneak behind enemy lines without them IDing you as an enemy!!

EDIT: the fake transponder would help 2 fold. if your on the outter reaches of their scanners and they couldn't see you then you could use any ship, on the other hand use a split ship to sneak into split space and you could be much closer but need to stay outside of the more indepth scanners that could id YOU in the ship itself

Makes sense. You shouldn't get in trouble if no one else saw you destroy the ship. I hope ES implements this. If not then maybe in a patch.

Sounds like a completly new gamestyle to X games-spionage and sneaking! I would love it.
