Thats where im hoping wasps and hurricanes will leave me taking on the m3's without worrying about their m4.m5 army
besides, the m3's are where the moneys are at when it comes ti bails  bahahah

oddly enough ive never had an M8 come in during protect station missions..
Ive had M6's come in. but never m8's are they the next one up? XD

No, M8s come before M6. They typically show up with a bunch of fighters, then as your rank goes up you get 2 of them and a bunch of fighters. After that you start getting M6

Well then i'm confused as hell!!
ive NEVER had M8's come after me during Protect station missions..
Except in the Xtended mod, but then. m8's were jumping in during patrol missions during that game 
so i somehow missed the m8 rank???

Ok well. i havent played for awhile

He's right; M8s should show up after you start seeing more than two M3 attackers. Generally, they blow up when you shoot the missle they're launching, but otherwise the bails are good for a few mil apiece. When they've got a cargo bay still full of Torpedos, they're a real gold mine.
They're often faster than some of the escorting M3s, so I occasionally have enough time to clear out the M4/M5 trash (and any inbound torps), then bail the M8 before the M3s even start to shoot the station.

Ok went scoutin, got myself that solano  its a good ship, its got enough power And speed for me, for now.
Also in a recent patrol mission, an M6 came in..
Have i once again missed m8's somehow?? ahaha

AFAIK in AP M8s have been classified as more dangerous than m6s. I know the payout is higher.
EDIT: You specified TC.... Oops. It's possible they did the same to TC in the recent patch.
