The Boron Megalodon, Terran Kyoto?
Are they any good? Do the other races have anything like these?
I ask because i flew into asteroid belt in my shiny new boreas and come across the kyoto. Did a little bit of looking through the wiki and found the megalodon as well.

AFAIK they've been there at least since 2.0, but I think they've been there the whole time in AP.

Don't forget the ATF Tyr and ATF Kyoto, and Xenon I! Very Happy

Magalodon has alot of fire power and decent shields. HOWEVER it has a big ass and will have some problems dodging dmg.

I was reading another post on this forum about it, everyone was bitching about it, complaining that it only has 36 turrets up front compared to the usual 40 of others. Was it buffed in a patch?

And the xenon have one?! Crap.

My first experience with a megalodon was when it jumped through a gate and right on top of me, lost 2 hours progress. Evil or Very Mad

Magalodon is pretty cool, especially considering its expanded missile option. Kyoto is entirely different because its ability to dock M6, M8 and TS ships. It is a perfect bomber base, you can capture one in Asteroid Belt. Xenon I has a missile turret and a barrage command. A barrage of firestorm torpedoes is an interesting thing, but I have yet to try it in real combat.
To summarize, all 3 mega-destroyers have some unique features and are worth trying...

One question, where's the argon one?!
Haha, in X i've only bought argon ships, i guess you could call me racist. Razz
Nah, but have egosoft mentioned any other possible upcoming Super destroyers from other races?

Ah.. boarding.. i tried that once. I failed. Completely.
Could you possibly direct me to an instructional thread for noobs?

Boarding is quite different between TC and AP. For TC there were decent guides, some of them can be found in stickies. In AP they actually fixed boarding to be easier and more enjoyable, but I haven't seen any guides so far.

Actually ES are just following military/economic principals as we know them on Earth, which they are very good at, with the appearance of (super)M2s.
If you look at battle ships throughout history, in times of war the governments with money build bigger battleships and add thicker plating because they need the most powerful ships and do not have the time to develop smart tech. In peace time battleships stop growing, often they shrink and the governments with money and time develop the smart tech., because the most vital battles are won using smart strategies and cutting edge tech. So obviously if X3 produces a war game the rich races would role out the most powerful ships to take control but that will not guarantee that some smart alec will not come along and blow it up, just look at Torus.

case and point: Saya Kho + Torus = BOOM!!!

defo right i would imagine that and there were some seriously nice models come out of the mods...

unfortunatly the argon didn't get one... disappointing because there is the Atlas and Deadalus Models i belive from the XRM mod which are M2+ and M2+ class ships...

also on the Kyoto, this thing should be an M1+ not M2. those 6 hanger doors down the sides would make for good M6/M8 etc etc hangers but that big gaping mouth would make for an excellent figher hanger!! then with its own firepower, plus it just looks like a big super carrier... like a cross between Star Wars Star Destoyer and the Wing Commander Midway class.

weither or not there could be any more added... well that all depends, i think someone said that its not impossible for more content, but that are obviously focused on REBIRTH, and therefore they would try to knock out bugs and then it would depend what time they had.

Disappointing, since the Argon have OTAS to design these sorts of things.

Which has a devastating 60 ship hangar which will dock up to 60 M6/M8/TM/TS/TP Surprised
Sad it is only really movable when docked to an Aran. Otherwise it crashes the gates...

best regards,
Rhox

Or via jump beacon. Also a correction, 50 bays are only for fighter size ships.
