A new space 4x strategy game that is currently in development, looks amazing, and kinda brings back Master of Orion memories Smile

Here's a link to the trailer to see what I'm talking about:

(art and gameplay footage starts at 1:10)

This is the game's official forum: http://forums.amplitude-studios.com/forum.php

Looks pretty, what little there is of it.

Whats with the first minute or so, watching with the sound off. . . . looks like irrelevant advertising.

It is an explanation of a new system called Games2Gether (G2G) through which you can vote on certain game elements and features and thus participate in the development process.

not bad, but would have preferred to see more of the game in action, not sure from the vid is it 2D like MoO or 3D like homeworld? can't really say from the vid

Battles are 3D, gameplay-wise it's closer to MoO. But I agree there's very little one can learn about the game from this first trailer. I'll keep an eye for more and will post them once available.

The game looks promising, i only wish no one had pointed it out until it was nearly finished, i hate waiting. ;)

The battles are in 3D but they're turn-based.

Quote:
The battle is broken into battle phases where each player plays one or more actions (up to three) to attack the enemy, defend his fleet, or apply modifiers to the battle.
The battle ends when one of the fleets is destroyed or retreats, or if there is no conclusive winner at the end of the combat phases. If both fleets survive a space battle, the fight can resume at the next galactic turn.

Source.

I'm playing it right now. It's very intuitive -- apart from it taking me fifteen minutes to figure out how to move my fleet (maybe i should have used the tutorials afterall ;)).

Have had a few system lock-ups, but it's an alpha version so it'll only get more stable. Saying that, though, it's remarkably complete on single-player.

It also runs my graphics card extremely hot - it shot up to ~70c before i noticed and turned the fans on full whack, now it holds steady at 53c... seems a little on the hot side, and their forums appear to be down so i can't report it.

Indie, strategy and sci-fi?! Right up my street!

Emperor Edition sounds nice. If I get a spare £20 i'll be sure to get it.

@Apothos, how have you got access to that? Are they doing a similar thing as minecraft?

Also check out this preview which is pretty detailed and contains a lot of screenshots http://www.spacesector.com/blog/2012/05/endless-space-alpha-first-look-preview/

The game can now be pre-ordered giving you access to the Alpha.

Yeah similar thing as Minecraft. I bought the Emperor Edition, but i believe both editions currently available give access to the current Alpha release.

This game would be perfect for a Babylon 5 mod.
