Introducing Hard Knight Productions Inc. Enhanced Missile Barrage!

Installing these scripts will create two assignable hotkeys for the HKP Missile Barrage command.

What these hotkeys do:
Issuing these hotkey commands requires an enemy target. Your sector will then be checked for available ships. For the HKP Missile Barrage (M7M/M8) command, this will be missile ships (M7Ms/M8s). For the HKP Missile Barrage (Wing) command, this will be fighters assigned either to a wing or as a personal wingman. If you have ships available meeting the criteria, a selector screen will pop up from which you can select one or more available ships or wings for the missile barrage. For the (M7/M8) command, the selected ship(s) will fire a standard missile barrage (1 volley, 8 missiles) at your current target. For the (Wing) command, fighters in the selected wing(s) will all fire missiles at your current target. Note that M3 class fighters will launch 2 missiles, while M4 and M5 fighters fire 1 missile. Best missile selection is automatically determined based on missiles available in cargo bay and the target being fired on.

Download Instructions:
Follow the link below to download file, then simply extract the files into your X3:TC installation directory, leaving the directory structure of the zip file intact. Overwrite any existing files (no game files used).

Suggested script environment:
I use the following scripts in my game as well. They are not necessary, but I believe they enhance the missile combat aspect of the game greatly. The Missile Defense scripts also make missile hits against AI much more difficult, making the use of the Enhanced Missile Barrage a great addition!

Missile Safety by Gazz ; Delay activation of launched missile
Missile Defense Mk2 by Gazz ; Working missile defense for AI and own ships

Is this just for M8/M7M or can I use this to order my fighter escort to join me in a round of bombardment?

Would be really cool if there was a hotkey that just ordered all the fighters following me to launch a missile at my current target (with appropriate sanity checks, i.e. not if they are a gazillion miles away).

This script utilizes the built in 'Missile Barrage' available to M7M and M8 class ships, so they are the only ones this particular script applies to. I may expand this concept though to another hotkey that works as you describe, as I think it's a cool idea as well. 8)

This has now been implemented in version 4. A new hotkey can be assigned which will command selected wings to fire missiles at current target! Note that this is a fighter command, and only M3/M4/M5 ships in the selected wings will launch missiles (M3s launch 2 missiles, M4s/M5s launch 1 missile).

is it possible to scripted in a command so that we can choose how many missiles/volleys to luanch?

if so, where do i start

My library for multiple hotkey presses would be a simple way to do that without having to go through a menu every time.

Hotkeys added by scripts can be assigned in the ingame Options menu under Controls -> Interface -> Extensions.
