I've scoured Google and the forums here for an answer to no avail, so I apologize if this is something that has already been asked, because I can't seem to find it.

I have an M7 Cerberus with MARS installed, and after a few hours of gameplay and one or two times of leaving the ship to patrol a sector on its own while I scouted elsewhere in an M5, the ship's pilot is listed as "Aron Bro" rather than me, and now my main guns will not fire no matter what weapons I have installed or how hard I mash the "fire" key.

The guns WILL fire manually when I'm in any of the turrets, as well as on all my other smaller ships. I only have this problem sitting in the main cockpit of the M7.

I've tried swapping the MARS upgrade between ships, but nothing happens... I can't help but wonder if the game engine somehow got confused. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how can I fix it? It's pretty irritating not being able to shoot forward and having to rely solely on the MARS turrets in a fight...

I have X3 Reunion, latest version, with CMOD II and MARS mods added.

Have you already checked the MARS thread for similar problems and possible solutions?

The only not mod related issue I can think of is that you switched to a weapons group, which has no assigned weapons in your Cerberus.

Afaik, neither the CMOD II nor MARS add ships to the game and the M7 Cerberus is not part of the unmodified game. So, do you have any other mods than the two mentioned installed?

Found your thread in the Tech Help forum, so I came here to look for it when I saw that yer thread had been closed(bizarrely!). Otherwises I'd have posted a response.

Anhow, my solution to yer problem is simple to implement. It may be a long shot, but try this.

Press '1'.

Now fire.

If what I've suggested works, it ain't MARS, it ain't Cerberus, and it ain't ANYTHING to do with your scripts or mods...and you'd definitely posted in the right forum first time out.

As Illuminatus rightly suggests, chances you've accidently selected another weapons group - ne you've not defined. My guess is that you probably pressed '2' by accident at some point. Pressing '1' should re-select the correct weapons group as before.

Easily done, usually as a result of pressin' '2' instead of 'F2' by accident, when wishing to switch to external view... and a right pain in the backside.

I had this problem way back in 2007 when I first began playing Reunion. Musta restarted the game so many times due to weapons freezin' up and jammin on me, for some unknown reason I couldn't unfathom - ie. I'd pressed '2' instead of 'F2' but simply hadn't realised it.

Was gettin' thoroughly sick of the game, and almost gave up paying, when one day I pressed '1' by accident instead of 'F1'... and hly cow the weapons burst into life again!! Very Happy

So, in summary, try pressin' '1' and see if that fixes it.

If it doesn't fix it, then Im sorry I've no idea. *shrug*

I have indeed cycled through the weapons groups (1, 2, 3, 4) and it doesn't seem to fix the problem. I have since bought a second M7 and so far the main guns on it work just fine when I'm in the captain's chair, as do the guns on all other ships I own as well as the turrets in the seemingly bugged M7 I own.

I guess I did forget to mention, Illuminatus, that I do have the Xtended mod installed as well... sorry. Razz

The ship seems to do OK with an AI piloting it, but I have yet to see it fire the main battery at an enemy while in sector, and it doesn't seem to be as effective at swatting flies as it was before.

You were right, I *did* have a different weapon group selected, even though I swear up and down I didn't. Boy, do I feel silly now. Thanks for your help. Rolling Eyes Wink Embarassed Very Happy
