Wow man. Calm down. It's fiction. Not real.

If they think like that in fiction, chances are they'll use the same reasoning in real life.

Yes. Absolutely. Everyone who has ever played any game like GTA are all criminals running around shooting police, stealing cars and bangin' hookers.

Very funny, but that's comparing apples to oranges. We're having a lore discussion, in which the point is usually to think of fictional events as if they were real. I think most of would agree that the things you do in GTA are bad. In any discussion lore discussion about GTA we'd have to concluse most characters, including the protagonists, are villains. So, why's X³AP different again?

That good Sir, is called a Slippery Slope Fallacy. And by the 'same reasoning', you have killed billions of 'hypothetical people' with the use of just one hand.

Shall I call Jihad on you now? Rolling Eyes

I'm not sure if all this outrage is real or roleplay, but either way extending it to accusing people of justifying mass murder in real life is pushing it too far. Cool it please.

Yes, genocide is bad. That's what makes the whole Second Terraformer War a travesty. Could it have been prevented?

All it takes is for two parties to reach comprimise and consenus. But is that always possible when emotions are involved? Perhaps thats why one of the CPU ships left the Boron frontier for deep space. Logically ... it may have been impossible ...

At least we have to try Smile

Agreed. I'm glad at least *we* could come to a consensus on this. Laughing

So yea, aside from people getting to worked up with this subject, what I find amazing about this game is the shere fact that egosoft makes me NOT WANT to play ARGON killing TERRANS, but yet, I PLAY it ANyways! just to see the plot!

I got through the corporation mission, I hear the 2nd mission/plot is the war ones (im assuming if i follow them long enough i'll finish those plots)

I don't know how it 'ends' or if this 'war' ends in the 'plots' or not.
But I have to assume, with as many races agaisnt Terrans as there are... It can't end pretty.
And to me..
This makes me want Egosoft to put out a Lore-friendly Plot for the Terrans.
If hte Terrans are on the Losing side.
I WANT a Plot for that losing side!

You know how unique that would make this game? To have a plot where you LOSE? This to me, would show in the gaming industry. egosoft has some real balls. Which means, my respect for them goes up even more greatly.

Wing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom had that option, but it was pretty gut wrenching to watch. I seem to remember Independence War 2 had you being on the losing side as well. It's not unique, but admittedly not done often because we play games to win.

I'd say the Penumbra series would fit the idea of a plot where you 'lose' fairly well, and to a lesser extent Amnesia.

I played some of the terran side. It seems as if it really doesn't have a plot to it. Either way I don't think that there is anyway the Terrans will get past Circle of Labour. The Argon are too stubborn to let the sector go Laughing !

From what I've seen, the path that the common wealth and terrans took to this war is nothing more than a repeat of so many wars in our history as a planet. Genocide due to race and beliefs are very common themes throughout history. Both sides thought they were superior to the other and weren't about to back down. Eventually this war was going to take place given human nature.

I'm not trying to justify what either side has done at any point in time. I'm just saying it follows the path our race has taken as a whole throughout history and I'm ready to find out where the story leads from here.
