my personal favorite although its probably not the best way (maybe others will say it is) is to force pilots to eject, take over the ship and sell them (or keep them if they are any good)

i think the easiest way is to get a trade set up, get a few cargo ships running between factories and so on, but this all depends on where you are in the game... if you are very early on and dont have the entire map open its different to when you are completly finnished and have your own factories set up and so on.

Fast money? Strap a rocket on it? Wink

There seems to be many ways: missions, trading, mobile mining, capture/boarding, etc. That is the impression that I get by browsing existing threads, stickied guides, LinkList.

It really depends on where you are and how fast is fast. Recently, I did more than double my credits with two traderuns. I had 100cr to begin with so it was a major advance. Another day, another game a mission reward of 50 mil was not a noticeable change in funds.

Ultimately, the question is whether fast credits have any more value than slow credits. The goal of the game is to be fun, right? Inventing self a new way to get credits is surely fun, isn't it? Goner

If you have a bit of money to invest, then setting up a few LTs and eventually UTs will make you a good steady income.

Otherwise fight missions.

Assassination missions are good for a quick buck, but if you take patrol missions you get a good chance of bails AND extra pay for each ship you destroy!

I'll say it again, taxi missions are the way to go, doing these will earn you good Credits and improve your race relations very quickly, first time playing this game I couldn't believe the amount of time I spent in a freighter hauling ore and energy cells, now the first thing I do is get hold of a nice TP (there's a free Iguana Vanguard if you know where to look.....also the best TP in game) and get your sector and universe traders to do all that boring hauling stuff, these will also improve your trade ranks as well.

Taxi missions are good in early game or when you need a few bucks quickly.

But setting up a good group of traders and factories/or complexes will give you steady income.

If you can afford some mobile miners then I am told there is money in Nividium.See separate thread on that.
But for me , it would make me mega rich too quick and I would probably get bored of the game .
I like to struggle to achieve anything.
Maybe that's why I think I might venture back to Reunion or BTF some day.

In X3TC, imho it's next to impossible to not make money (and I like it that way):

1a) trade a bit, and fight / pirate a bit to build reputation
1b) get a TM, a derelict ship, and a jumpdrive
2) do assassination or personnel transport missions (a lot)
3) check second hand ships, repair, and sell the nice ones
4) do ship return missions - those sobs forget M6 / M7 class vessels... (sell them as your rep is high enough to carry the negative rep impact)
5) build a chip or spacefuel complex (or both)
6) do build missions
7) do whatever you fancy as now you're doing missions for 2-10 million profit....
8) train marines using M7M, boarding pods, and 3* marines mixed with lower on ship return missions (M6 / M7 ones)
9) board M2 / M1 and sell them

I like to make complexes that don't require any input to make a product. Sure there's the initial build cost, but when you are constantly making a product that is in demand, it pays off in the long run.

Telaninanium foundary L x3
Solar pwr plant M x2
Flower Farm L x1
Sun Oil refinery L x1
Silicon Mine L (~26 yield) x1
Crystal Fab L x1

This has absolutely no required input (except an initial cost to put into place and an initial ~3000 energy cells to get it going) and it constantly spits out Telanianium. It never stops producing because traders are allways buying my Telanianium.

There are other combination, so if you decide to go that route, try a few out to see how much money you can make......

This method requires patience; it takes about 2-3 days to pay off the initial cost, but in the long run it's worth it.

Taxi missions pretty much rock. I'm using a Springblossom for them and it's like taking candy from a baby.

Imo, there's no fast way to make money. It just so happens that in TC, credits are easier to come by than in the other games. Well, there is one way, but it's more of an exploit than anything.

Assuming you haven't patched your game--the ridiculous rewards for high end build missions were fixed a LONG time ago.
