This walkthrough is mostly spoilered, so that if people get caught on the common sticking-points they can read it without spoiling the story for themselves.
However, it is not expected that the replies will be spoilered, so don't read beyond the first post if you are stuck but don't want to know the plot!
Several mods are known to cause some problems with this plotline. All mods not updated for 2.1 are suspect and even if they have there's still no guarantee that they're compatible. If you have a plotline problem with a modded game, you are requested to go to S&M and ask which mods might be the culprit, and then ask in that mod's forum thread for possible solutions.
This is a relatively short plot, requires very little funds and can be completed in an M6.
This plot activates when you’ve visited 92 Sectors and 10 minutes or more after installing the 2.1 patch. The next time you fly into an Argon or Boron sector, you get the starting message, telling you that an Argon military convoy has been attacked by Yaki, who boarded a Carrier and made off with it. This is notification that the plot is available to start; it does not begin until you take the initiative and follow the steps outlined;
The Hunt Begins
The plot begins somewhere in Pirate space around Brennan’s Triumph. A station that could be up to three Sectors away will have a book symbol; the contact on board you need to talk to is a Teladi treasure hunter.
The contact is in sector Senator’s Badlands, flying a ship named Trouble Seeker. When you fly over you find that she’s less than talkative. Your mission objective changes to her Advanced Satellite. Blow it to pieces. Following that, you’ll have to destroy her Lasertowers. Once completed, she gets the message. She’ll give you the info you want once you’ve replaced her satellite. Drop it near the beacon.
“From the end of the kingdom move one and five, there is a rock among many, that holds a surprise. Jarren Gisler, 10/5/44”
Welcome to the Treasure Hunt. You’ll have many clues to solve like this, some are easy, some are hard. If you can’t work out where you’re supposed to go, then continue through the walkthrough.
“x = Minimum jumps needed from the Foundation Guild HQ to the space of the Queen.
y = x minus 1
Iaron Seldon 25-1-50”
Try and figure it out; it requires a bit of knowledge of X lore to figure this one.
… Bala Gi’s Joy. Fly there and to the co-ordinates marked and claim what just became rightfully yours.
Tzessosis Rudilis Luuligos II”
Give it a shot.
The device is a long way east of the centre of the Sector. Try and dodge Xenon capital ships, swat light fighters and run away from heavy fighters.
The Keepers are a group of fighter drones that will spawn when you arrive. Four Mosquitoes lobbed at each one should remove them from the sitation quite quickly. When they’re all dusted, the data storage device will spawn. Picking it up loads up the fourth clue;
1 holds the key, the other 6 hold peril.
Almanckatsalss”
This one requires lore again.
The 7 emissaries are 7 beacons, one of which has the next clue, the other six spawn enemies when approached. Finding the right one is trial and error. To find them at all will require use of a Kestrel equipped with a Triplex Scanner and sector mapping software; Navigation Command is necessary. Some of the beacons are a long way off the ecliptic, so you'll have to run scan patterns 25km above and below the ecliptic to find them all (it may be necessary to run further scans 50km off the ecliptic, some beacons have been up to 60km off the ecliptic plane). The beacon with the clue will jump you across to the Sector to where the data storage device actually is located.
“Three rocks, far away from a vast stony cloud, are your next destination. Find them, and the crate will be easy to spot. The Anagram is the key to gaining knowledge of the wherabouts of the next piece.
Arv Pegasus”
“Once you have a firm grasp of where it all began a very, very long time ago, travel until you come to an End;
S-S-S-S-E-S-W-W-N-W-N-W
Hili Bo, 26-11-49”
“sector – two – jumps – north – of – home – of – light”.
In other words, Herron’s Nebula. Move to the marked co-ordinates and you’ll find your prize:
Yo t’Sht”
Yes! The final clue is nigh!
Since the ruling Split family is the Rhonkar family, you are heading for Rhonkar’s Clouds. The container will be buried in a random asteroid; a Mineral Scanner and Navigation Command software are both must-haves. When you arrive, order your autopilot to run a scan of all asteroids in the sector. When you find the right one, let loose with another one of those Hornet missiles.
“Now that you have all pieces of the puzzle you should know where to find the treasure. You will need to look for it in the far southern part of the sector, almost the size of the sector away from the centre.
Hanes Kellar”
You may be stumped for a moment, but you’ll then realise that one of the Sectors in the backing image is highlighted green. Oh yes. THAT Sector.
You need to get within 500m of the wreck to start a scan. When the scan completes, the logs are downloaded into your ship computer. But there’s a more pressing concern; your prize is trying to get away. It’s none other than the original X-perimental Shuttle, and you have to capture it.
To do this, just fire away to your heart’s content. It’s invincible. You must make the pilot bail, and then pick him up. It’s your old friend the treasure hunter, who has evidently been following you.
Once you’ve got him, get out of that Sector. Forget about the Shuttle, you can’t claim it yet.
You must take your Teladi hostage to Argon Prime shipyard for interrogation. When you arrive, you are told to prepare to rescue the Colossus’ crew from wherever they are being held.
When the crew are all aboard, get out. Then jump back to Argon Prime’s Shipyard. When you arrive, you pick up your prize;
