As there is no forum for X-T or X-Btf please post in X-Universe Forum for now.

Actually, that is a good question.

Having just got the superbox, and never having seen the first few versions of the game (I came in for X2 and only started seriously modding just before X3), I am seriously considering playing them. But being the modder I am, I'll be wanting to make some changes I would bet.

Somewhere to ask questions would be good. I'm not sure x-universe is the appropriate place though.

I notice there is still an X2 modding forum, could it be considered to alter that forums perview to include the earlier games ?

Something to consider. Given the resurrection of the early games, those of us who mod the latter ones and start to revisit the early ones (now that they can be played on current computers), may well come to significantly increase the mods and scripts available for them, to the extent that is possible.

The main forum is the right place to talk about gameplay for all the X series games, and as of a few minutes ago there is now a combined Tech Support forum for X-BTF, X-T and X2 so people have a clear place to post if they have problems installing or running any of the older games.

Modding for X-BTF and X-T was a pretty limited affair and of course there was no scripting. As far as I know there was only StoneD's editor (which I've not seen a copy of for a very long time) and mkess' mod for X-T (which again, I've not see for a while, though I may have a copy kicking around somewhere on an old disk). A whole forum just for discussing these would be overkill, but if people suddenly get a taste for modding the old games then this idea could be reconsidered.

No scripts ? Surprised

Now I understand why certain things cant be changed. Originally hardcoded completely because there were no scripts. Learn something new every day.

If you can find a copy of that editor, send me a copy and I'll add it to my achives. I recently spent some serious time looking for all the patches and modding tools for all the old games I had loved, so I would have them in the future if I wanted them, without risking them vanishing. So many of the old games tools have now disappeared.

@ CBJ: Thanks for making a spot for earlier X-game technical issues!

That's "modding" as in "hacking around with the game files with a hex editor", though...there was no built-in support for modding in X-BTF or X-T, which is what CBJ meant.
