Plant tracking device ??? (Split espionage & sabotage - takeover)

Post by Hellfire546 » Sun, 28. Dec 08, 10:26

How do I plant the tracking device on the elephant ship?

I bought a tracker mine and ejected it from my ship, but how do I get it to the target vessel?

:? :? :?

You don't.
Just get up close, real close and the good captain will tell you when the tracker is planted.

You just need to get within 500 m from the ship, it will be automatic, like when you had to scan the pirate base.
SCUM : They may exceed you in number, but not in value.

Another TC 'feature'

Post by markdeno » Mon, 18. Oct 10, 04:58

I have played through all the missions and this is just one of the smaller 'features' that make the missions so much frustration to newbies.

Even though pearl says "that's far enough!" you are in fact not far enough and you have to scrape the paint to plant the device. Whether you will survive the next 15 seconds is also unlikely in the first playthrough if you didn't have your escape ship, with a transporter installed, following you very close behind.

If you loved that you will soon love. - Trying to capture a Vidar with one 25mj shield (quick recharge) with 10 lvl 0-1 marines. (Classic)

Trying to capture a CPU ship with even less odds if you use the ships and marines assigned to you.

Trying to guide numerous supply convoys through Khaak infested sectors when Clusters and Corvettes spawn only 10km away and your freighter pilots seem to have no will to survive - at all.

Having to gather more resources than have existed in the X universe for 100 years to repair the hub. All in the aid of NPC trade and the ability to build ships you can now buy instantly off the shelf by the dozen.

lol

and i thought that capturing a ship was easy..........hell

Never capped one single ship (with marines), i tried to cap the Hyperion Vanguard with 7 marines, many hours lost and nothing, even following the guide......so hard....and my Skiron always destroyed.

i put his 5x200MJ down, after that i launch the marines, and the best i can is ..." Boarding in..."...and nothing........until i am blasted......

How can you guys do that so easly..........

Spacewalk boarding is an art in itself, and heavily rellies on luck.
For a start you could try using an M7M for boarding, it will be way easier, but requires funding.

The Cobra is probably one of the best for boarding ops imo. But to get the most out of it you will still probably have to build a complex to supply it with missiles.

Cobra Cobra Cobra!

And, if you don't want to make a complex for the missiles but have the dough to spend, you can clone Hammers, Flails, and Boarding Pods using the shipyard / military base trick in Argon M148.

Nice, thks

yes, the complex for the prodution of the Hammer and Flail barrage missile.

i already have a Hornet prodution...;-)

So, for the Hyperion Vanguard, i can eliminate the shields with my Skiron, and send the cobra for the boarding.

Do the whole lot with the Cobra, using Flails to take down the shields. Saves fumbling about between ships.
