nevermind the price, what ships with what outfit makes a good fighter and good bomber.

I wouldn't say it is the best fighter, but I rather like the Skate Prototype with EBC all around. Not speaking price but avaiability, the Claymore would be the best M8 you can find, as long as you find its missiles (or build them yourself), CW M8 use Tomahawk Heavy Missile which are weaker than Phantom missiles :
- Tomahawk 43 km for 625 000 damages at 196 m/s
- Phantom 53 km for 650 000 damages at 212 m/s

If you want to aim bigger you can use any CW M7M with flails and hammer torps, or cap yourself a Skirnir and use the Ghouls (not manufacturable for now) and the Shadow missiles
Shadows are 2.5x deadlier than Hammer torps, and use 18 vs 20 cargo units for the hammer, meaning more pebbles to throw at your ennemie's face.
SCUM : They may exceed you in number, but not in value.

Assuming "best bomber" is not referred to m8 class ship but m3 with stats to be actually a good bomber, then go with falcon hauler\sentinel.
Loadout : 5 PRG + 3 EBC (or 4 + 4), IRE on the back and equip with thunderbolts or tempests, set missile fire rate at around 20%.
NEVER to use against small & fast fighters but, ten of these "bombers" can take down a Q or even a J with no losses.

An M7M with Flails and Hammers makes for both :P

Dont even think about the Claymore M8 if you are just starting out. This ship is for the people looking for the M8 'end solution'. No point in this unless you can build LOTS of those missiles yourself and you just cannot do this unless you have advanced very far into the plots..

Dont even think about trying to scour them yourself manualy. i couldnt fill up even once fully my claymore. Finaly sold it away once my Tomahawks fabs were up and running.
X3:TC Heavy M6 guide : : : Let's pretend you are an addict, lets pretend that you are a X-games player... but i am repeating myself here.

And you were lucky, there were 0 phantom missiles in my game, but now I can build the stations.

Look for them 3 sectors east from Saturn. There is a factory atleast in my game, but it is starved. it needs feeding.

Not that it helps much. The production speeds suck and you absolutely must buy every single one of the phantoms you can find as npc traders buy all of them under your nose.

Verdict is clear: Claymore is hopeless without your own fabs for the moment.

0 was the number i got usualy too.
