[Script] Logain Industries Freight Distribution Network Lite (FDNL) v1 28/06/2010
Logain Industries Freight Distribution Network Lite (FDNL) v1
Introduction:
FDNL is a stripped down script only version of FDN.
This is a replacement for anyone who does not require full FDN or someone looking for a replacement to Complex Hubs or fleets or TS's.
Limitations:
Only works within the local sector and requires a Advance Satellite
Does not work with Complex Hubs
Both Product & Resource Factories need to be running FDNL
Factories will try and maintain 2 * required resources, it requests the full amount taking into account its own stock level. However if a supply request is missed due to shortages the Factory will not request the resource again until just prior to the next complete cycle.
Pro's over FDN:
Simpler to use / fire & forget
Less CPU intensive
Not a mod so no compatibility issue
Ideal for self contain production within a local sector
Con's over FDN:
No advance feature
No centralised storage & distribution
Only works in local sector
Does not work with Complex Hubs
Does not work with PM or SSDN
FDN Disclaimer:
If used with FDN, FDN & FDNL should not be run on the same factory. It will work but just duplicate running tasks
Usage:
Assign Hotkey to open FDN Lite Menu (also uses Cycrow's Hotkay Manager)
Select Factories as listed under available Sectors
FDNL active factories will show as green
Simples!
Current Version:
v1 - 28/06/2010
Download Link:

Already stated in the OPcreidiki wrote:Mmm. No argument there, just sayin'.
You might also want to add another advantage: doesn't need a mod (if I understand right), so its rather more easily compatible
This is basically what FDN started out as but with a lot of lessons learnt.
Now just tweaking the supply ware logic and adding Community Plugin Manager for next release.
Not sure if I'll bother with a resource multiplier as all it does is give a buffer for an unbalanced production stream. Still in two minds.
I may also move FDN, PM & SSDN away from AL plug-ins and onto Community Plugin Manager & Hotkey Manager.

Fdnl
How do I turn this on? I looked under both the ship and station orders and it doesn't appear. I looked under AL because FDN says to activate it there but it doesn't show as an option, yet the plug in manager says it's loaded. What am I doing wrong? CLS shows, but yours sounds easier to use.

As per the OP.unknown1000u2 wrote:How do I turn this on? I looked under both the ship and station orders and it doesn't appear. Assign hotkey to open FDNL menu and enable stations from there.

Been a long time, but if I remember correctly with FDN-L a factory that requires a ware will only scan other factories that produce that ware, not use it as a resource.Ikaruga wrote:Does this only work with products > resources ?
Example :
I have two mines, one having 15 000 energy cells, on having zero, will the first one share its energy with the second ?

So let me get this straight, with this i build say a SPP, and in the same system i build a bunch of crystal fabs, Meatstake factorys and cattle farms they will all produce without the need for a bunch of transports? so il only have to really bother with transports to sell the products to other systems?
