I bought an elephant, its fast and has decent cargo hold, i just put a jumpdrive on her and bought a mercury as her personal transport ship to get ecells, i set the merc to homebase as elephant, but when i say return home it just sits there. How can i get it to dock in the elephant?

Er you can't dock a TS on a TL. It's too big.

Give the mercury a transporter device and supply command
software so it can just beam the e-cells over.

You can't. No ship in the game (apart from the elusive Aran) can dock a TS-class ship. You can use a Goner transporter device to transfer stuff off your Mercury if it's fairly close to the TL, or you can use a fighter class ship with a large cargo bay (e.g. Blastclaw Prototype), or you can use Freight Drones...all will work fine for loading up the big girl with e-cells.

Or dock TL and TS at the same station and just transfer the E-Cells.

I usually just use capped fighter ships for the job.

You can use Freighter drones, too, but unless the station your unloading and loading to is yours, making trades with them is tedious, because you have to treat the drones as ships. The freight drone trade command script doesn't work with NPC stations, in other words.

You can do that? Cool! Does the recieving ship need a transporter device too?

Can't you use freighter drones to do it without having to be IS? *just bought my TL also and trying to learn how to use it*

Hi,

The way I get around it is to use the dock TS script, then you can get the TS docked with the Elephant. Rolling Eyes

The method I use is to undock the TS, transport myself into the TS then go shopping.

If you park the Ele within 5K you can undock from the station with the TS full of wares and beam the wares directly to the Ele.

Then re-dock with the station and repeat until you have enough wares.

Then transport back to the Ele and re-dock the TS.

You could do exactly the same by having a jumpdrive-equipped freighter come to your TL, and you can do all the work without ever leaving the TL; in fact, you can do it from a ship in an entirely different sector with the remote transporter capability in X3TC! No scripts required, and it allows you to buy the e-cells from a full factory where they're cheapest, rather than having to get them from wherever you happen to be.

I just bought 4 Falcon Haulers for my TL and they do all the resupplying. They are relatively quick, they have XL cargo space, 200mj shields, lots of guns AND they can dock at the TL. Resupply AND defense (or offense if I'm feeling cheeky) ftw!

And what good is XL capability if you want ware which needs S containers? Blastclaw or (adv.) Kea are better for the refueling job, if you want to do it the hard way, and can pack more firepower.

With the XL I can use it for a mobile miner when I am not actively using it. It can still pull in some cash on the side instead of being a 25m isk gate blocker.

Absolutely i vote for the Falcon Hauler as well. The best argument for them is mobile mining (though they are a fine, fine fighter too).

At one point, my Ore/Silicon complex was running behind. Two large ores and a silicon rock tractored together into the Aladna Mines complex. Its job was to feed my Akeela Farms complex which produced my ecells and weapons. Gagging on the amount of ore i needed, i shuffled an Elephant into Aladna and set it to mobile mining. Then a single Falcon Hauler using Commodity Logistics to ferry ore from the TL to the station. It was a great solution, it kept up to speed with the Ele, and fed enough so that the mining complex could supply my weapons mill and still produce enough surplus to sell.

That is, until i dragged a third ore rock over.

Note, the Falcon can also hold an ore collector and with Special Command software, be taught to Mine Minerals and drop them in your TL as well. Speeds up mobile mining on both sides of the equation.
