You mean, besides having a 35 km scanner radius as opposed to 22.5? Wink

I proudly present:

Advanced Satellites for Dummies!

The advantages:
The Adv Sat has a larger scanner range and the camera function.
The disadvantages:
It's more expensive than a regular Sat.

How to activate the camera function:

This is the sector map when there is no Adv Sat in the sector.

Notice how the camera button is grayed out?

Now this is the sector map with a Adv Sat in the sector.

Notice how the camera button is no longer grayed out?

This is the sector map after clicking the camera button or pressing "K".

See how the map has gotten a live overlay (or is it an underlay Thinking) of the sector? You can only really see 'roids at this zoom level but if you zoom in you will notice the stations and ships.

Now that you know how to use Adv Sats, go find that Aran! Very Happy

Did Carlo point us to the FAQ entry already?

IMO the perspective projection of the video feed is horrid, but it is still one of the most useful tools in precision Complex building.

3 things:

1. Carlo hasn't posted in this thread yet.

2. The FAQ might have more info/be official, but my guide has pictures and colour! Very Happy

3. It's still snowing on the rest of the ES site Razz

S*B! completely missed that button.

But thats the way it is when you play the game like you are typing on a TTY terminal.

The FAQ is mainly created by players, so it's not totally official. And doesn't allow pictures Razz.

Nice work, Gripen & Technojerk.

I've only ever used this feature to build complexes, but now that's gonna change.

just an observation and it could be just me or my specific (somewhat modified) game i'm playing but putting a lot of advanced satellites
really slowed down the FPS (frames per second) in my game
so i actually had to cut down on placing a lot of adv satellites....

I've never had problems with adv sats. It's probably what ever you're running that's causing the lag.

PS Define "a lot of"
