Go into windows explorer.
Click on the directory you put the zip in.
click the [-] next to the directory name to expand the directory.
click on the zip name.
the contents show on the right of the screen
pull the contents of the right side to where it needs to go on the left.

Thanks Apricotslice, I don't have Vista and never seen it in action so all I could suggest was "right-click and extract" or d/l something like Winrar/7-zip...

XP's windows explorer works much the same way. The contents of a zip is viewable and extractable as if the zip was a subdirectory. You just need to know how to use explorer.

Personally I use winzip, as that allows me to zip up packages so that they unzip without any other attention. Rar doesnt store the pathnames, or create directories as it unpacks.

The secret to zipping up game mods/packs, is to use a usbstick, copy the directories to the stick, then zip off the stick, with the subdirectory include option ticked. This packs everything ready to be unpacked into the TC directory, and on unzipping, creates any sub directories that dont already exist. Everything then goes straight into its correct place. Saves the user with no pc knowledge a lot of trouble.

The link for this file is apparently dead. Is there another link?

I've uploaded it to my download site.

Edit :
The file name is slightly changed, with X3TC-Snowship on the front.

Also, its merged into the merge mod.

Awesome, just what I needed.

Do bounty hunters come after you in any of these starts? I've never known if this was something based on the start or not, as even when you're on bad terms with Paranid in "Unholy Traitor", no bounty hunters come after you.

Bancrupt assassin has them, so the gamestart should have something set somehow to enable it. Its just a matter of finding it, and duplicating it onto whatever start you want to use.

I love the gamestarts but I've got one problem: When I start one of them, then I always start with 5000cr, 2 PAC's and the same rep as in the Humble Merchant start. Is that normal or is it an error? I have Vista.

GarethE, Do you mean a specific start (in which case which start is it?) or any start you choose has 5000cr and 2xPAC's ?

Every start I choose I start in the sector which is listed and the ship, but always 5000cr and 2 PAC's.

are you running the egosoft Beta 2.6 or any other mods scripts? (esp ones that change weapons?)
Is my mod renamed to the highest # or somewhere else down the list?

Yes the mod is renamed to the highest # .cat/.dat.

My scripts:
killerog's Trail Mod
MARS Fire Control
Apricot Beam Dock
Apricot Claim Software
Apricot Salvage Pack
Bribe a Pilot
Cheat Collection Package
Equipment Research and Development
EMP
Race Invasions
RRF
Ship Hijacker
UT for Most Shipyards
AMurph0's Shipyards
Pirate Guild 3

X3TC Version 2.5

EDIT: And most of the starts are already unlocked (like the corporation ones) where I have met the requierments but not all of them. I have finished the Terran Plot but I don't have the Paranid start. Do I have to do the Terran Plot again?

None of the scripts/mods look to change the weapons types (although I've yet to use any of them  ).

of the starts that have pacs as part of the loadouts;
Mercenary Leader
Yaki Insurgent
Clan Warrior
OTAS Employee
Terracorp Commodore
Paranid War Priest

Try one of the ATF or the Atreus start, they don't have any PACs at all, if they (PAC's) appear then I'd suggest try re-downloading the mod and tell me if they re-appear, cause a Vanilla 2.5 install has them working fine at my end. (also the 1st I've heard of that bug, unless anyone else owns up :?: )

For the Paranid war priest start you need a mid to high Paranid rank to unlock it. (without giving a spoiler/specific answer  )

@ apricotslice
With the bounty hunters.... it's another file that controls that and I'm loath to have any more files that require adjustment every update than I need (2.6 will require a update for me when it gets released), plus most of the starts as a RP wouldn't require it.... although a mod that would automatically implement BH's when any race rank got too low at any point would be a nice idea...

I redownloaded the mod and still 2 PAC's,1x 5MJ shielding, 5000cr, same rep as in Humble Merchant start...

I tried the ATF start but with the same rep as in Humble Merchant I can't access the Terran sectors so I get blown up to bits :(

PS: Thanks for trying to help me :) .

I did try just now, but it's still the same.

PS: If you need someone for the German translation I can translate it for you :) .

EDIT: I found the problem! It was a modified start.xml file in my X3 directory :) . Oh and thx Snowship for helping me and creating these gamestarts :) .
