|
|
Hello. After installing Windows 7 Ultimate, and using the same settings for graphics that I used in Win XP, the menu and the "boxes" (gravitar, properties, etc) are really "tiny" (small) looking and I have to get about 6 to 12 inches away from the screen just to be able to read whats on the screen.
In Windows XP, all menu screens were nice and big.
I'm running 1680x1050x32 resolution with 125% selected in display properties. My monitor is an Acer LCD monitor. Is there a setting I am missing somewhere in Windows 7 to get the big menu's back?
P.S.
X3 TC is running great with Windows 7 Ultimate for me.

Settings you use for the desktop, such as the resolution and text size, won't make any difference in game. Game-related settings are set in the game's own configuration, which you get to from the initial start screen before you click on Start X3TC. One driver setting that will affect the game is how the display scales on the monitor if the resolution you've chosen does not match the screen's native resolution. This generally results in the entire game window just taking up a portion of the screen.
If none of the above helps then we may need screenshots to see what symptoms you're getting as I'm not sure I fully understand what the problem is.

Hello CBJ. Here are 2 screenshots. The one on the left is screenshot from Windows 7 Ultimate and the one on the right is a screenshot from Windows XP.
You can see how much the screen with the sector stuff is much smaller in Windows 7.

My settings are exactly the same as they were when I had XP.
Window mode
High graphics
1680x1050x32 resolution

If both screenshots were taken at the same resolution, why is the aspect ratio of the two pictures different?

I don't know. Thats what I cannot figure out. I did set the resolution to 1024x768 to see what would happen and the menus did become big but the screen did not fill the monitor screen like it did in XP.
Thanks for the help guys. Probably nothing can be done about it on my end.

The menus are smaller in the image on the left because the overall resolution is higher. If you want the menus to be bigger then you need to set the resolution to a lower value. If it doesn't fill the screen then, as I said in my previous post, you need to adjust the driver settings to allow the monitor to scale the image. Bear in mind, though, that if you choose a resolution that doesn't match your monitor's aspect ratio, the shapes of things will be distorted somewhat, so circles will be displayed as ovals.
