Now, the question of the day. Would N-S just hijack this ship? Or would he use it go get through the start of Terran mission, get free rapiers and then return the Pegasus? It should be easy to shake off the police in it if he manages to upgrade its speed to max - just fly back and forth in the Xenon sector nearby....

Unless he can find another ship retrieval mission he will probably have to hijack this ship. The problem being time, he had only 1h31m to accomplish the mission and will have spend at least 40 minutes to get to the ship.kurush wrote:Now, the question of the day. His biggest issue right now is going to be speed, he isn't allowed to use his repair laser and has only 1k cash. With the ship having 40% hull and no upgrades he won't be able to outrun the police coming after him (likely to be a or a few M5's).
So where is he going to find at least 50k in a few minutes ? He is by no means out of the woods yet that's for sure.

Fly back and forth in a Xenon Sector in an M5 with no shields and poor speed... Advisable!!kurush wrote:Now, the question of the day. Would N-S just hijack this ship? I kind of missed the fact that N-S is now prohibited from using his repair laser. But then he is also prohibited from using non-terrans ships and Perseus is not terranJoeVN09 wrote: Fly back and forth in a Xenon Sector in an M5 with no shields and poor speed... Advisable!!

Or, he can just rush for one of the freebies and return this ship... Let's wait for the next installment. The restrictions he published apparently prohibit him from boarding this perseus

'Predominantly,' so non-definitive, but in the spirit of the thing I think it's reasonable to count this as strict.NUKLEAR-SLUG wrote:Predominantly going to use Teladi ships as Maphys seems to think they're rubbish.Besides quite frankly the Teladi will sell to anyone! This is the one that's got me rubbing my temples. Sell this ship at the nearest shipyard, go back in the spacesuit and look for another ship retrieval mission. In that case he has cash to upgrade his 2nd ship and escape the police.
Or would the police go after his spacesuit after he sells the 1st ship?

The ship will "jump" in front of your eyes, destroyed by the game engine, as it's no longer needed.Col. Blackwolf wrote:Haven't tried going to the ship, canceling the mission, then claiming it

06 - Time
Time, one of those irreplaceable commodities and one I don't have a whole lot of at the moment. It's taken me a good portion of my allotted time just to work my way over here so I need to make good use of what I have left. I don't fancy sticking around Scale Plate Green for the next wave of Xenon to come wandering by. Given my currently miniscule sensor range I could have a wing of twenty N's all over me before I knew it and currently I have a ship that's trundling along with barely 40% hull and a top speed slightly under 100m/s.
Unfortunately, while I may be somewhat expert in taking a thermic lance to a capital hull, putting holes in stuff is comparatively easy. Fixing holes, not so easy, not my area of expertise anyway. I'll need to put it into drydock to get it fixed up, that costs money which I don't have and it's not my ship anyway so I'm sure not paying to fix it. I need to earn some cash asap so I think I'll head back thru Omicron Lyrae direction and see if I can pick up some paying jobs.
Nyanas turns out to hold nothing I can do. Combat missions? That's out even if I did have any guns, fighter-combat is not something I'm trained in unfortunately. Several good opportunities for trade, if I had a superfreighter.. and the cash to buy the goods in the first place of course. Omicron Lyrae seems much the same although I do spot a mission for a prospector to scan some asteroids. The pay is actually pretty good, 1300 odd credits per asteroid which for ten asteroids works out to be pretty substantial. Sadly I'ld need a mineral scanner to even think about doing that and they go for about 37k apiece so while it certainly may be something to work towards it's not something I'm in the position to take advantage of at present.
On a whim I decide to drop in to Treasure Chest just for a peek and that proves to be a good choice as the nearby Cahoona Bakery has lost a ship too..

.. and there's a goodly time limit on returning it!
Back in Nyanas and apparently it's a Boron Octopus variant which as I recall are fast but otherwise fairly limited, but it'll do as a replacement for now. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure I've left it too late to try and return the Pegasus so I'm resigned to failing that one but I sure don't want to be caught with my fingerprints all over it when the rozzers come checking so, heading back to Nyanas to pick up the Octopus, I scuttle the Pegasus. Oddly enough that seems to end with a positive result..

Would be interesting to see if it does the 10 second countdown before jumping, if so, what would happen if you claim it before it can jump?
I doubt it's possible, it probably jumps immediately, but it would be amusing to see what would happen if you could claim before it disappeared.. probably "GAME OVER"... hehe.

I tried this a few times. best case scenario, you own the thing as it vanishes from existence..
We are all explorers of the deepest reaches of space.
We don't just watch space on our monitors and listen to the sounds in it:
We, all of us, each and every one of us, owns, to a man, as many operational Space Shuttles as NASA does.
Yes, we're all that awesome. Give yourself a hug.

Actually, that could mean a lot for some games/people like me, who fondly remember that I was so poor once upon a game, that I rushed trading 1 (one) single tiny ecell, dropped by some ship down in Omicron Lyraesoftweir wrote:Oooh, 48credits for every scuttled ship? Your fortune awaits you

It's possible under certain circumstances, but after claimed it will still jump and be gone, if you hop in after the jump is initialised -> it will be destroyed and you will end up in the main menu screen. =)Musicker wrote:Would be interesting to see if it does the 10 second countdown before jumping, if so, what would happen if you claim it before it can jump?

Back in X3:R I tried many, many different ways to steal the ship you get given to do the race.Musicker wrote:Would be interesting to see if it does the 10 second countdown before jumping, if so, what would happen if you claim it before it can jump?

Flying through the gate - game over, docking it at a TL and jumping that - it disappears from the docking bay, and so on, all sorts of things, none of them work. When the engine wants to delete a ship, there's not a thing you can do, even if you own it.
