[SCR] Custom wing manager aka. add-remove wings
* Note: This script is free to be reused in your scripts/mods as long as you say thankyou in your topic.
* NEW Update *
Version 1.2 updated by vukica now allows renaming of your custom wings
* Update *
I resurrected the old Custom Wing Manager script for bonus pack consideration
the new script is v1.1 it works without Cycrow's Community Plugin Configuration script but it requires:
special command software MK1
it uses the ship command slot:
<t id="553">COMMAND_TYPE_SPECIAL_53</t>
and can now be found in the special commands menu
Its functionality remains exactly the same though
Bonus Pack Submission of Custom Wing Manager v1.1
well folks this is my very first attempt at a script and i stress attempt lol
since i've waited and searched for a script like it but never found it i made one
it'll ad a new command in Cycrow's Community Plugin Configuration that will let you create and delete your own custom wings.
it's not perfect, but it gets the job done.
credits should go out to LV (thanks) for it was his menu tutorials i hacked up to make this, so.. i guess some code was harmed in the making of this sorry..

Edit: fixed spelling error
thanks AsterXiphos i totaly missed it lol
*Edit old version link removed
Thanks to Cycrows encouragement i have managed to make this work with his Community plugin configuration script so i have made it available for download.
new version now uses a custom command slot <t id="1381">COMMAND_ZYPHERG_CWM</t>
instead of the one mentioned above and no special commands software is needed
no other changes where made so upgrading is totaly optional
SPK v2 Requires: Cycrow's Community Configuration Menu
RAR v2 Requires: Cycrow's Community Configuration Menu
Mirror by TSM Thanks
upgrading should be as simple as replacing the 2 script files and the t file all names remain the same so nothing needs to be deleted first and is savegame compatible

SPK = http://files.filefront.com/custom+wing+ ... einfo.html
RAR = http://files.filefront.com/X3TC+Custom+ ... einfo.html
Its not that far from perfect.
I'm using it now and I'm impressed

rather than using a command slot, consider cycrow's configuration menu. I think it will be a better place esp when hooked up to a hot key. Perhaps it can even semi-standardize a subheading ("Wings" perhaps) in the menu.
It also makes it very easy to add new general util commands in the future without more command slots.
lastly! Good idea and good action!

if i knew how i would definatly try, but alas i have no clue how to hook into Cycrow's config menu.sphr wrote:rather than using a command slot, consider cycrow's configuration menu. i wanted to make it possible to mass-rename all ships in a wing but couldn't get my head around it, looked at a few scripts that do some renaming but i just couldn't figuer it out.
i also wanted to add colors but theres a bug that messes with the "Message Log" (a real scripter shelfed his work on account of it, i forget who) so i didin't even try that one.
but if anyone with real scripting skill wants to take tha ball and run with it i have no problem at all with that.
adding it to the configration script is very easy.
its explained how in the first post, http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=218088
you simple have to call a script, and set the argument you want for the display name, and it'll be all done for you

That’s easy for you to say, I’m just a mere mortal, one that can't script to save his life evenCycrow wrote:adding it to the configration script is very easy.

However you are correct it's very extremely easy to do as I did manage to figure it out and update my little script thanks for the encouragement I had just assumed it was beyond my meager copy 'n paste skills
now i don't know which one i should submit for the library
