graphics card, and other graphic settings not being detected?

Im talking about the menu that comes up when you run the TC icon.

on grapics settings, i had no options at all for Direct 3D device, resuloution, antialiasing or anisotropic texture filtering.
it was just a blank white box.

Also, when i download the update it says it finished but when i run the game it still says V 1.0.1 not 2...

if you saw my posts on Off topic about my recent computer problems, do you think this is related?
the posts were about spy/adware, then logon - logoff loop but in the end i just reinstalled XP without formatting.

Reinstalling without formatting is probably what's causing the problems. Try reinstalling your graphics drivers again to sort out the graphics options. With regard to the patch, you do actually need to run it when you've downloaded it, and make sure you specify the correct folder when you do so.

Yeah.. about the drivers...

setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close

so no more drivers
wonder if i could download them though?

That doesn't sound good. Yes, of course you can download them, from the ATI or nVidia site, depending on which kind of card you have.

also just made a new dxdiag report and it looks like my whole machine has..
forgotten itself
for system manufacturer it says system manufacturer
for system model, it says system product name

when talking about my graphics card.. its like it dont exist!
the feilds on display are either empty or have n/a...

It sounds like installing over the top without reformatting wasn't the best idea.

i think my only option availble to me to fix this would be to reinstall XP again but format it aswell

well i reinstalled XP again and formatted it this time
installed drivers for the graphics card
and now DxDiag is detecting it so i hope TC does aswell when thats finished installing.
