Game Unplayable, Every mouse or keyboard comand repeats uncontrollably

I just installed steam so I could get this game and now that it's installed I can't play it.

When I start the game my gun is blazing away making some guy angry. I can't use any menus or keyboard commands because whatever button I press carries through to all of the sub menus. I have to press space bar multiple times to toggle the mouse move. I don't even know how to play the game yet and can't really learn when I have no control over its interface.

Please tell me there's something I can do to save my $40 investment!

The problem in my case was that I have an RC airplane simulator installed called RealFlight G4. This game comes with a physical controller that shows up in DXDiag as "interlink". X3 must view this as a joystick and initializes it. An RC airplane controller doesn't have any real neutral point and is therefore always sending commands.

I had found the "joystick fix" link that was replied on this thread and had initially performed it but then continued reading the instructions and realized that I couldn't possibly try all the keys that were repeating on me.

My solution was to just yank the RealFlight controller cord out of the USB jack and now it's not spamming commands. WOOHOO!
