[MOD-WIP] X2 Ship Callback Mod

This is a mod that will port most, if not all, X2 ships to TC. I've successfully ported 24 ships to TC so far.

The idea of the mod isn't to replace the existing TC ships, but rather incorporate the X2 ones. Because X2 ships are smaller some of them will be reclassified. Although the ships stats will be kept as close to the originals as possible.

The mod will include engine trails as well as TS/M6 external docking slots for all big X2 ships, and M5 external docking slots for all X2 M6's. The jobs file will also be edited to use the ships instead of just the player. The asteroids from X2 with the tunnels going through them will be ported as well.

I'm also thinking of porting the old X2 shipyards that will sell only the X2 ships. Each race will have one of these shipyards and they will be called "merchant scrapyards".

The following is what i plan to do to the X2 ships:

-M1's will be reclassified as M7's and will be like a light carrier comparable to the Panther

-M2's will also be reclassified as M7's.

-TS's will not be re-classed. They will have the same weapons/shielding of a typical TS class ship and will carry between 1000-2000 of XL cargo, they will be faster and more maneuverable to compensate for the small cargo bay.

-M6's will not be reclassified but they will be a lot faster and more maneuverable than a typical X3 corvette, as well as having the ability to dock an M5.

-M3/M4/M5's will also not be reclassified and will more than likely keep the exact same stats as they had in X2.

-TL's will have external TS/M6 docking slots for 2 ships.

-TP's will not be reclassified but they will have increased speed for use as a fast marine transport, but will have a smaller cargo bay.

I cant wait for this, I've wanted the x2 ships in this game for a while now, and it wasnt very easy to get em on x3r.

Just put the Old Nova and Falcon in there too, there was something about those ships that just made me Like switching to third person for a bit and just do a Few 360's of the ship :)

I don't know what your on about boi :D I got about 30% in my last Irish test!! I want to learn it but the teachers they give us are horrible, and i mean horrible!! If i could get my hands on that Irish Rosetta Stone i'd be fluent. I tried it last year with German actually, i gave up because i was lazy, but i did sorta speak it for about a week :D

Ah, fair enough, Well Irish is one of my strong subjects but being in honours with the worst teachers known ain't all that great. :oops:

But back to subject, the x2 ships would be a VERY welcomed addition to my x3tc experiance, and since you are so experianced at these things, Mind doing a nividium mine? :roll:

i've actually done a nividium mine script for myself in my game. Their actually already in the game, but when you build them they produce delaxian wheat for some reason. My script just adds them to the shipyards and fixes the product.

I wouldn't bother it though, it takes 6 hours to make 2 units of Nividium with little profit margins, and i don't know how to speed up production.

But Iv found a yield 23 Niv Asteroid and Id have a feeling it would speed up production a bit :P

But thats ok if you dont want to submit it, If you manage to find out how to speed things up lemme know

i tried this on a yield 80 asteroid that i created myself, but i'm sure theres already a nividium mine script going around, i'll have a look. You can also use cycrow's cheat script to spawn a nividium mine there and then use it to change the products.

Yeah I was thinking about it, then later thought..Wait.. Thats cheating isn't it. :P

Dont get me wrong the Niv Processing plants are doing me just fine, just would make life easyer with a mine, so worst comes to worst il just Change the products

Ok when i get the model in TC the ship is invisible, i can still see the lights and the engine.

I know that this is because the textures are missing so does anyone have any advice on getting the textures to work in TC, or do i have to re-texture the whole thing?

Is the entry in Tships/ model tab /ship_scene correct?

yes it is, as i said up above i can still see the lights and engines of the ship, meaning the model is in the game, it's just that the textures aren't working.

I know all about the TShips file, how else would have i gotten the ship into X3:R??? :D

Apparently all the textures must be in .DDS format. So i need to find and download "Observe's DDS 2.1 converter", but i don't know where to get it.

what format are the textures in? The ones from X2 that work in X3R but not TC?
