X3:TC List of Software and Corresponding Ship Commands (updated 2010/22/11)

Post by clevider » Fri, 21. Nov 08, 06:55

Command descriptions were quietly added to the in-game encyclopedia entries of the various software packages somewhere between v1.0 and v1.3. Later, Egosoft also created a similar FAQ. Since my list was already here, I decided to include the ship restrictions from their list and continue updating with links to useful discussions/instructions on the use of the more complicated commands (very open to suggestions on that last bit).

The items in red denote uncertain or missing information. If you can confirm the info, fill in the blank, if I've made a mistake, or if I've missed something please let me know.

Almost all of these commands have in-game descriptions. To access, highlight a command in the command console and press 'i'. And again, if you've seen a thread with useful instructions or tips, please let me know and I'll link to it.

Yes thats true but when you form your ships into fighter groups the group commands will overide quite a few and have noticed can course conflicts unless you remove the ship from the group.

Oh god this is so useful, I'd suggest it be linked into the resource thread. I've never known what half of the software in the game does.

Thank you for the suggestions. I keep debating whether or not to put in explanations for the commands, but it's pretty long as it is and I've seen entire threads devoted to some of the commands. Plus, I think Egosoft did a rather fine job of writing clear command names. Right now I'm inclined to leave the additional info, useful though it be, in the replies unless people really think the list would benefit...

I've added Skinmeister's corrections and am submitting a link to the Resources thread on Sheepy's recommendation.

Nice list, thanks. *Printing*...

The requirements being Fight Command Software MKI, Fight Command Software MKII, at least 25MJ of shielding (can be made up of 5*5MJ if you cant get 25MJ shields), pilot of at least level 8 (trained by running sector trader first).

Requirements were for X3 Reunion. I did not set up UT's in TC yet. Can somebody confirm this being the same for TC?

EDIT: TC Manual says level 6 is required and is vague on triplex scanner and jumpdrive :?.

It's not a command as such, but assisted auto-aim is enabled by Fight 1 or 2.

Also, there's Explorer Software:
Navigation
- Fly through gate.
- Map sector.
- Deploy satellite network.

Carrier Command Software also includes:
- Deploy Fighters and Retreat

Trade Command MK1 is standard on TS, not sure about TL but I don't think so.

Thank you all very much. I think I've incorporated all the corrections posted so far. I've not yet used Sector/Universe traders or Carrier software in either TC or R so I can't test any of that info myself. I think I recall that trader pilots order a triplex scanner and jump drive automatically at a certain level, but maybe I'm thinking of CAGs. It's been a long time...

I've put explorer command software on my disco to help uncover the map but it doesnt do anything. Is there a certain ship size needed?

  • Jump to Sector (reqs a jump drive)
  • Jump and Fly to Station (reqs a jump drive)
  • Jump and Fly to Position (reqs a jump drive)
Are you sure?

Jump and Fly to Station
Jump and Fly to Position belong to Nav Mk1.

I think they're part of Nav Mk2.

It's just I've just been remote trading with my Mercury which has Nav Mk1 and it only has Jump to Sector at Nav command 9

The explorer command software adds the functions for Map Sector and Fly through gate (amoung others) to the navigation menu of the command console. The explorer software doesn't do anything by itself unless you select one of those options. There is no minimum ship size that I know of, and I am currently running it on my advanced disco. Discos are good for this as M size freight means it can carry a triplex scanner.
