X3TC: TS recommendation for player ship

If your prepared to splash out abit for a TS class transport for yourself, try a OTAS Minstral. Purchased from the OTAS shipyards in Legend's Home at 287,366 cr. SuperFreighter version available at 1,498,187 cr

I bought one to replace my Mercury.

Its a well rounded ship with 4 turrets (1 gun for Front and back, 2 guns for Up and Down) and limited to the following turret mounts

Impulse Ray Emitter
Particle Accelerator Cannon
Mobile Drilling System
Tractor Beam Repair Laser
Phased Repeater Gun
Iron Disruptor

It is fast at 130 m/sec with the same cargo capacity as the Mercury (4000 units) and can have upto 4 25MJ shields compared 3 on the Mercury.

PS... Try not to put anything too fancy on the turrets. I had put PACs on the turrets and the twin turret used 6% of the power supply.

Yes, they're very good. I've been using the super freighters fully upgraded. (Be prepared to spend about 3M more upgrading that cargo bay.) You should take a look at the Zephyrus as well, it's second only to the split TM in speed, and has much better shields; makes a great mobile base if you prefer to fly an M5 when looking for trading deals like me.

The turret configurations are a little different on the TM and super freighter. There's 2 guns on two turrets and 2 forward guns. I saw some pirates jump a Zephyrus IS and they failed miserably. The PRGs seemed to force them into braking off their strafing runs while the M4 escorts tore them up.

You might want to spoiler tag the location of the shipyard though...

It's not really a spoiler, as you can get it by checking any OTAS ship's homebase.

I have a superfreighter variant as my e-cell supplier...does 80-odd m/s with an UNUPGRADED cargo capacity of 10k. I could upgrade it to 15k, if I wanted...

OTAS is rocking really. Best M4, best TS, best SF, best corvette... All their ships are extremely good-looking and usually best or close to best in their class.

Haven't tried Boreas yet but it looks extremely sexy too.

I wish you could buy OTAS M3s though... Tried to cap one for ages.

I suspect that their M3's and the M7/M7M are quest rewards, but the chain is currently broken.

I bought a Mistral SF too, cargo fully maxed out. It is an excellent ship - and as the poster above says, I love the industrial / functional / no-nonsense look!

I think I saw the Aquilo missile frigate (M7M) for sale at Legend's Home. This is without doing any plot so far. But yea, I can't wait to try out the Otas M7.

That's the M7, the Sirokos is the M7M... I've tried it in my cheat save and it's sadly impotent like the M7M class in general.

Aquilo is a m7m and available from legends home. It's cheaper than most m7ms and it mounts stronger shielding, but it can't fire boarding pods. best m7m for AI use. Looks awesome too.

You can also buy the m6. I forget what it's called.

"Venti" (m3) and "Eurus" (m4) and the boarding cruiser (?) are the only ships that arn't available.

Sandalpocalypse is correct. The boarding cruiser (M7) is the Sirokos. That's the one I am looking forward to.

The little Mistral looks cool, but the big one reminds me of an interstellar vacuum cleaner or something. I still own a pair of them in my main game, though -- fully upgraded. One is my ecell freighter/equipment storage rig, the other is a MORT.

The Nova Raider in X3:TC has a speed around 190m/s I believe, much faster than the X3:R version.
