[SCR] Numeric Race Rank Titles, Notoriety list with point values

Post by Gazz » Wed, 22. Oct 08, 19:36

English / Deutsch / Français

This can be used in an unmodified game. See below.

Those race titles may be nice for a pure roleplayer but they are not very useful when playing the game.
Learning 334 different ranks from countless lists is not my idea of fun.

When the shipyard tells me I need to be Distinguished Associate - is that 1 rank higher than Family Friend or 3 higher...?
I hate that.

Now they say
2 Federation Member
11 Hero of the Federation.

This script catalogues all Race, Company, Fight, and Trade ranks.

A rank of 0 allows me to dock in border sectors, rank 1 in core sectors. Easy. =)

Of course the Argon would not give me a number for a title.
That's just what my board computer adds so I can assess my relations quicker.

Unmodified game:
If you do not install the script at all and rename the T-file from 7090-L044.xml to 0003-L044.xml, you can use this in an unmodified game.
If 0003 is already taken in your game, use 0004, etc.
I am not making this the default download because it's possible that it would overwrite a future ES patch file.

These are the Notoriety point values (approximately) required for these ranks:
-4 < -100000
-3 < -10000 . . .Attacked on sight in border sectors
-2 < -1000 . . .Attacked on sight in core sectors
-1 < -100
0 < -10 . . .Docking granted in border sectors
1 . . . . . . . Docking granted in core sectors
2 > 10
3 > 40
4 > 100
5 > 400
6 > 1000
7 > 3000
8 > 10000
9 > 30000
10 > 100000
11 > 350000

Hi Gazz,

Great and simple script!!

2 things though:

1: I copied all the files where they should go but for some reason the setup script wasn't listed in the script editor despite the fact it was in the scripts folder. Just as well its only 1 line long so i rewrote it.

2: Should the t files not be named "7099-L044.xml" and "7099-L049.xml"?

Got it working after fixing 1 and 2 above.

Regards,
Mufflink.

The download link pointed to the incompatible Reunion version. It is fixed now.

@mufflink
You should re-download the whole thing. The Reunion version is not complete for TC.

I don't use many (come to think of it... any) of the "big" scripts/mods like race response, XTM, or whatchamacallits.
TC is pretty much polished now but occasionally something makes me go AAAAAARGH! So I fix it.

Like the Jump! script.
TC decided it wouldn't let me jump to Saturn.
I disagreed.

I really appreciate the update of the script. Thank you so much I can finally figure out where I stand, without having to pause the game and open up the pdf manual from steam.

Just a quick tip, you can also find out where you are ranked with the in-game encyclopedia.

Thanks but I prefer not having to look that up when I can have all data right on the pilot statistics. =)

Script expanded to include all company ranks.

I'm also lost with the ranks and I wish I could simplify that.

Can you make the same for French (L033) ?

Thanks

Gazz, is there a way to actually return the value directly? Like "30042", or "52355" rather than 1-12?

I was looking at it, but I'm either blind or stupid. :)

I like the number the way it is, but I think it'd be nice to see the actual number the game uses, possibly placed after the race name in the player stat page...

The script is very helpful in any regard. :)

If you rename the english T-File and edit the language number at the very start you get english ranks - with numbers.

To be honest, I have much more ahh... interesting... projects than a copy&paste session with text files. =P

Maybe one day when I'm really really bored. That just hasn't happened for the last year or so.

hi,

just made the french translation of the tfiles
(i've taken the real titles in the original 0001-L033.xml file)

rapidshare link

just made a change (from my personnal taste, easily changed) : I've set the fight and trade ranks in decreasing order ie 31 to 1

regards,
Seedz

Thank you. I included it in the download.

I still take credit for the scripting effort, though!

didn't manage to make the script function
even tried an apply (execute the setup script) / save / quit / reload sequence :x

curently i've got the numbers with an horrible bypass (modded the 0001-L033.xml file and put it in a .cat :p) and lost some texts (nothing important for now, but it could be kinda harmful in the future)

regards,
Seedz

PS : aint matter, done it for my own purpose and thought i could share ^^

Hi,

I have extracted and copied the files in classical places, but nothing appears.

Assuming that I don't know at all the script editor, what did I miss ?

Thanks for any info.

That script doesn't work for me.
I installed it and nothing changed at all.

Unless I am missing some part of the vague instructions.
Installed it.

Landed at a station, highlighted a station, and the required rank displayed the same.

Looked under pilot status, and ranks appear the same.

Maybe you did not have a modified game?

Non-Egosoft scripts are not executed in vanilla games.

I uploaded the file again. Now it will automatically set the game to modified.

Ok, will try again, thanks.

Will the numbers appear in my pilot status report?
Or do they only appear when trying to buy wares at a station?
