The box I'm building now will be a 3GHz Quadcore Yorkfield with 2Gb and a 7900GT. Hopefully this should be able to cope after a bit of overclocking.

Military outposts sound interesting. If they act as a sort of RRF it will add a lot to the artificial life of the game. A station gets attacked and they send out a wave of reinforcements. Presumably they also give out shooty blasty kill-kill missions.
Damn... I really want to know how bombers work.
*edit*
Now that I think about it, I don't think any capital ship has been shown shooting anything but PPC-alikes and Flak-alikes. It's possible that 'new weapons' means that capital and fighter weapons have finally been segregrated. THat makes a lot of sense from balance POV..

From what he said that should be more than enough.Risky wrote:Thanks for the link.BugMeister wrote:see here:mufassa wrote:Any word on the system reqs for X3:TC?

Dang, you guys have 8800GTs and 7900GT graphics cards and your talking about needed overclocking or running on medium.
I'm really hoping that the 9600M GT I'm getting with my new laptop will be able to run this well. I really hope you guys are being pessimistic because you're making me nervous.

There was a link posted earlier in this thread which gave some indication of system requirements.I'm really hoping that the 9600M GT I'm getting with my new laptop will be able to run this well. I really hope you guys are being pessimistic because you're making me nervous.
I'd expect the requirements to be slightly higher than for X3:R, but given that Bernd has mentioned that 6000 series cards are capable of running the game, I doubt that you'll have much difficulty.
I so need to buy a new computer. Right now I have a Pentium 4 2.5Ghz and a Radeon 9200 on my Desktop.
I'm gonna have to agree with the incredulity expressed by the guy who wrote:

I've heard it all before ... you're saying nothing new ... I thought I saw a rainbow ... but I guess it wasn't true ... you cannot make me listen ... I cannot make you hear ... you find your way to heaven ... I'll meet you when you're there ...

My old PC (see my sig) used to run X-3 at around 30 fps, Iv'e just brought a new PC (Intel E8500 overclocked to 3.8ghz) with a 4850 graphics card which ironically cost less than half of what my old one did when I brought it and runs X-3 at over 100 fps even in sectors with loads of asteroids.
It just shows you how technology is improving so fast and yet getting cheaper at the same time too.

Bah... I can't wait for my new machine to come in. If I had my way I'd shell all my cash for the computer of my wildest fantasies. But alas, my petty squirrel hoardings' worth of capital isn't nearly enough.

Could we have a fan Q&A session at some point closer to release?
If you take Stalker:Clear Sky (Deep Silvers other project) as an example one of their guys did a nice session released to YouTube where he selectively picked questions and answered them with examples obviously in areas he felt showed off the games potential.
I know a video interview might be asking too much but something for your news letter perhaps?
(I am pleased to see some of the XTM models/ideas/people in X3:TC smart move, I think I've already seen my favourite Teladi SY in your vid or pics)

I just took delivery of my new PC, and a Geforce GTX280. I worked hard to make sure I'd have the money to get it before the release date, and I've just made it.
At last, and for the first time ever, I will be able to play an X series game from the first time I load it up with all graphical goodness on. I am somewhat chuffed.
Ok the 280 is overkill, but I wanted the gpu for some number crunching fun, as well as gaming fun.

A 32 bit address space can support up to 4gb. Windows (XP) normally divides the memory into 2gb user & 2gb system. There's a boot.ini switch to change this to 3gb user & 1gb system (/3GB)Although with a 32bit Windows 4 GB of system RAM are only limitedly useful, it is still recommendable regarding the actual prices.
Besides that X3TC, of course, runs stable on WINXP 64bit or Vista64bit systems too.
(It can however only use up to 2 GB because the game is a 32bit EXE).

All egosoft need to do to support it is set the /LARGEADDRESSAWARE linker flag...
I've got 4gb and I damn well want to get the most out of it
Cheers, Jason.
You likely won't get much above 3.2GB addressable in 32-bit XP if you are running a modern video card.jasedenton wrote:A 32 bit address space can support up to 4gb.
