Background :

I'm building a mod called Khaak Intruder. All races are enemy (except yaki for some strange reason).

There are several logistical problems attached to the Khaak start.

One of them is resources, but the scrap ship at HQ script supplies resources, as well as collecting them once dropped from dead ships. The scrap ship script is more usefull though, as so far, Ive found that some things needed to make ships just ahvent been dropped. You need 2 or 3 scrap ships to make 1 Km3, so its not a quick process.

The one I cant solve is credits. To build a ship at the HQ requires credits. I've been unable to change the existing scripts to allow npc traders to buy from an enemy station, and short of keeping teladi freindly, which I dont want to do unless all else fails, there is no other way of making credits.

The object of the mod, is to build a fleet of Km3's and then progressively destroy the races with it.

But with no credit, one cannot build a fleet. There is no khaak shipyard, EQ or TD in the game to trade with. And in any case, your race is player not khaak, so as far as I can see, khaak are still enemy to you even though not set as enemy on your ff.

So, I've been mucking around with this for about 4 days now with no progress and then was looking at the scrap ship working and suddenly had this idea :

Can a script be written that simply destroys the ship, and puts the same money that it would have brought in a shipyard sale into the HQ or player account ? This would simulate having sold the ship back to the Khaak homeworld. Command in ship to be sold, "Sell ship to Khaak".

Likewise, can a script be written to sell y amount of product x, sitting in the HQ, to the khaak for average price, removing it from the HQ ? Command on HQ, "Sell Product to Khaak"


Both these 2 scripts would give me the ability to make money from the stuff that can be collected, and from capped ships. I'd have to make a choice of scrapping or selling a ship, but I would have to do that anyway.

Can anyone do these for me ? Please please please please.

I think this may fix your problem. There is a "credit-less HQ production mod", that allows (disallows?) the disuse (use?) of credits as a factor for production. It's either that, or put up a 'friendly race' EQ in your sector you are using as a base. (the second idea would also provide ship upgrades to you).

Is it a mod or a script ? Do you ahve a link to the thread, as I cant seem to find it.

I'll definitely look at the neutral stations idea.

Sounds good in principle, but looks like its not complete yet or still work in progress. I'll keep an eye on it though. I've also asked how the mod was done, so maybe I can look at it myself. (Mod within a mod gets complicated).

mm when extracted, you can read the t-files with wordpad i think. You may want to look into that Razz

Didnt think of that. I've being using notepad for scripts tho. Doh !

Edit : Been trying to mod in a shipyard. No problems with that part, but none of the products I put on it can be boaught as they are all red. I've changed the notoriety for all of them to -1000000, but still cant buy. Not sure whats going on there.

Weren't there some "always-neutral" ED/SY implementations around? Don't have link for it. Their main focus was to have place where player can always buy, regardless of race ranks.

A facade. Not owned by player, yet trading with player. That would suit the Khaak theme. Something you can sell to.

Dont worry about it, I figured out how to do it.

Lateral thinking and turned out to be relatively easy to do after all.

New Khaak Intruder mod is out now for beta testing.
