I can send you my savegame. Maybe it's my fault and I can't find the menu.

Tried on a hyperion with no probs. It looks like an script install problem.
Do you have the script editor open to enable the script.

(the command should appear in the general menu even when the tractor beam is not in the turret)

The general menu will appear below the standard navigation/trade menus in the command console (very difficult to miss it)

It is vital to have the script editor activated or else unsigned scripts will be ignored.

Cheat scripts are not required

Working now, thanks. However, the mine I tried to rotate started moving aggressively like a comet. Hehe, I need practice!

Is it possible to modify this so that the tractor beam can tow any targetable object? For example, station debris or asteroids.

This might provide an elegant solution to deal with the station debris in president's end.

Sure it is possible. Just remove the code that checks what the player's target is.

Anyone know if this works in 2.0.0.2...

I got it installed...
and started it following the directions....
but soon found out that the only thing moving was my ship....
I tried a couple different stations with the same effect...
just pushed my ship back very slowly...

If it does work, could I possibly move headquarters?

OK first off, this is a *really* useful script, and it actually makes me glad to have a TB now.

But I've got a problem: I'm sticking together a GPPC complex, and this script worked for getting all of the stations and facts in place except for the mines. The ateroid the mine is built on is about 40K from the rest of the complex, and I'm trying to tow it there. Problem is, every time I try to activate the software I get an "Autopilot Activated" announcement, and the 'roid won't align itself. Then when I move off, it spins wildly and the beam breaks so I don't actually get the 'roid moved anywhere. It's like the software isn't actually working.

Any ideas?

I can't get it to work either.

I'm running V. 2.0.02(Bala Gi), and I too have LV's cheats.

Now, with the Tractor Beam installed in the Rear Turret of a Mammoth, and with that Mammoth positioned just under 5km from a Headquarters(rear of ship facing the HQ), I found the command in "General", where it had replaced LV's "Add Default Equipment".

I don't care about losing "Add Default Equipment" BTW. Never gonna use it.

So, I selected the Advance TB command(shields up, as you specify), and I was then asked to select a ship. Galaxy Map>Sector Map>Ships.

This I did not expect. No mention of it in your instructions.

Well, given that the list of available objects in my sector DIDN'T include Stations, I figured that it clearly wasn't asking for a target to tow, but perhaps asking WHICH ship ought to be using the TB...

...SO I chose the Mammoth, hoping that it would then figure that the Selected Ship would use te TB on its Target(ie. the HQ).

The voice said, "Command Accepted", and I waited. Station never rotated to match my orientation. I began moving. Station didn't follow. Tried rotating and "dipping"/"raising" my Mammoth.

Nothing.

Can you help?

Thanks.

Select a ship? That sounds to me like it is conflicting with the cheat script. It must have changed the label but not the action.

I sort of figured what was wrong with mine: when bunny said you had to target the station, I took it as read that you also had to shoot it with the tractor beam. It seems to work much better if you don't. Although, when I say it "works better", it still ain't perfect: it cuts out on me if you go faster than 17m/s. Still, better than nothing...

Oh, no doubt about it. It's LV's "Install Default Equipment" that gets executed.

About five minutes after an unsuccessful attempt to use the Adv. TB, I got a distress call from a Split Sector. Went there and helped out with defending against a Kha'ak invasion. Destroyed a Kha'ak ship and was told, "as a reward you get 5,000 credits."

"What?" I thought, "But I don't have a Split Police License!" My notoriety with the Split wasn't sufficient to dock at their stations, let alone buy a license.

Checked my "Player Information" and sure enough I had licenses for ALL races.

Ergo, endeavouring to use the Adv. TB had indeed executed the "Add Default Equipment" script.

I'll bear that in mind, if and when this script gets updated so that it no longer conflicts with LV's Cheat Scripts.

I get to within 5k of my mine, engage tractor beam, station starts turning, bashes into my TL because the station is bigger than 5k, my TL and about an hour and a half's work down the drain...
But that's probably my fault, I should have saved more often, right?
