[AL-PLUGIN] Tractor Beam Merchant V1.10 : Update 25/11/2006

This script creates merchants at trading docks that will sell tractor beams via the barter menu in exchange for money or other wares

LV also has a script that respawns TB facts. and places them in the respective SY's for sale.

it uses the merchants that you can barter with in trading docks

Hey Cycrow,

Good to see you continuing to expand the X Verse. Have a weird problem with this script:

Was in the middle of killing a load of LV' Death Match Arena ships with a Raptor using Flaks. The Raptor as usual was destroying everything. Installed your script and now the Flaks wont hit anything. Uninstalled your script and went back to the save without your script and the Flaks are making quick work of the enemy. Tried you script in a different, unrelated save and the same thing; the Flaks can hit and destroy stuff without the script, but cannot hit a thing once I install your script.

Using 1.4.0.3, no mods (except the EMP), all your scripts and LV's, Anarkis and Serial Kicked.

Any ideas? Seems a bit odd to me.

thats very strange, considering all the script does is add merchants i cant think of anything that can effect weapons.

unless theres a bug in the game engine somewhere with the merchants causing this

would be interesting if anyone else is having this problem

speaking of issues.... seems to be a prob. with your current bundle pack.
(dl, install, nothing) thought i would let you know. in the meantime, ill dl your scripts individually. (says last update is 6/6/06). hope it helps and isnt on my end. :oops:

just that, i download them (tried both packs), open script installer (using alot of scripts atm), load script (yours), goes back to installer lists, scripts not on list. :?:

* Increased number of merchants available at any one time
* Increase length of time the merhcatns stay at the same station
* Increased number of wares to exchange with
* Added other wares for exchange, including space fuel, space weed and spaceflies

I have an idea for a script that I'd like to use in my 'Khaak Invader' games which is similar to this. My Idea is to have either a merchant in the barter menu like this or a BBS seller (like the one in your BBS addons who sells salvage insurances) who sells Kyon weapons at insane prices (Im thinking 10x selling price). I dont think it would take much modification to do it but im completely lost with all this script editing stuff =( Maybe you could help me out a bit (after x-mas) ?

My simplest idea would be to have a BBS guy selling packages of 3 kyons, with the price being around 250k for 3xalpha, 2,5 mil for 3xbeta, and around 6 mil for 3x gamma.

In any case a merry X-mas to you and everyone else in the community! :)

I have this script loaded with XTM and I cannot find a single Tractorbeam Merchant anywhere.

I have satellites in most of the Argon sectors and some other race sectors not too many as they seem to want to kill me right now, (Started as Terran lol.) And I have never seen a Tractor Beam Merchant?

Is this script working with XTM?

it should work fine in XTM.

u will find them in trading stations when you dock.

u goto the merchants options where you can exchange goods with other merchants.

occasionally u'll see ones that sell tractor beams for either money or other wares.

its not sposed to be common however.

Don't you see them flying about the Xuniverse?

I have been trying to find them that way by finding one flying to a station and then jumping to sector and getting there to do some business. But I have never seen one flying about.

So my guess is they just appear in Trading Stations right?

nope, they dont fly around. They just appear on the barter menu.

i have installed the script useing your installer but the is no script in the AI settings to turn on.
did you take it out with the update.
thanks and you make some great scripts, am to a point i really need tractor beams.
