Trade 2 is for factory ships so they can sell your product.

Your right though, a list of software needs doing.

Edit : Software guide in place.

The basics are all listed and a few scripts. It needs some work to flesh out and include all the scripted software.

New update in place.

A few loose ends and some permissions needed and the first draft will be ready. :)

I need some help with the software list, as said in the edit to the previous message.

I also need to collect a lot more signature lines or X3 one-liners that are funny.

Another Update but a major milestone passed.

The X3 handbook now exists as a First draft entity, ready for checking by the contributors.

Hosting for download is being organised.

Keep you posted.

Still want submissions on any of the wanted things in the list in the OP. I can make changes for a while to this version, so anything received will get included rapidly.

Thankyou for everyones support and help. :)

New update in the OP.

Phase one complete.

Phase two begun.

I need screenshots from peoples games. Lots of them and lots of variety, so I can insert them to break up the text.

Anything accepted, I'll use what comes to mind in a particular spot.

Phase 2 is almost complete now. Pics inserted all over the place, still a few to come.

File size is now a zip of about 5mb. I'll try to keep it from growing much more.

Release of version 1.1 is now imminent !

It is having some final checks and hosting is being organised.

If anyone is interested in getting the handbook on disc, let me know and I will consider the logistics of doing this.

I've had 1 request so far, if I get enough, I'll organise it.

The link to respawn in the first post should work but if it does not the handbook can be found in my X3 download area here along with files from other people and Apricotesslices tractorbeam mod.

Hi apricotslice,

Nice one, lots of info in one place.

I agree with your decision on spellchecking, it would have taken the character out of the entries (and gives an excuse for your erors).

I suppose you will update it every day, as new information comes to light, or new mods/scripts are released (grin)....

Keep up the god work (intentional)

Have fun, and help the rest of us to enjoy X3,

Just skimmed through the guide but the map on page 4/5 doesn't fit. Its missing 2 columns on the right side.

Your right, it is. One of the disadvantages of pdf, it seems to dynamically resize itself at times. I didnt notice it did it this time. Noted for fix.

Figured I'd download this seeing as I've finally, after owning the game for about 2 months or so, started playing X3 (been far too addicted to X2 :) ).

I have only skimmed it seeing as I want to try to discover as much as possible myself. A lot of reading here but I figure it will come in really useful at various points.

What I have read so far has been useful. So thank you, apricotslice, for the work that you've put into this and also to all the contributors who took the time to give the rest of us the benefit of their knowledge. I, for one, very much appreciate it :)

Thanks guys (and gals, if any)

Jon

Nice Handbook. Well written.

Could I be so bold as to make a couple of suggestions?

Firstly that while you are editing up the next edition that you'd consider making the font size quite a bit larger, even if it adds several pages to the doc. It'd be much more eye-friendly and easier to read.

Secondly, could you post a seperate link for the map please? It's be useful as a standalone document, maybe one page landscape A4 size in PDF to zoom into particular areas of detail.

Excellent handbook though. :)
