[Script] BBS: Extra Missions (some Firefly-ish) Pack [1.20 Update 27.02.06]

Post by al_main » Wed, 22. Feb 06, 14:25

Extra Mission Pack (will include sort of Firefly Missions)

Description : Adds missions to the BBS and relevant commands for your ship.
Version : 1.20
Date : 27/02/06
Author : al_main

*Uses the {emp}*

Using cycrows script installer:
http://www.freewebs.com/x3scripts/Extra ... _v1.20.spk

Or extract the files to your x3 folder:
http://www.freewebs.com/x3scripts/Extra ... k_1.20.zip <= for some strange reason might need to copy and paste this link into your browser

Eventually this pack will include lots more missions, relevant upgrades, BBS, other events etc, also including missions and things in the style of, or similar to the kind of stuff that they get up to on the old firefly tv show (I've started re-watching it through again!). Aswell, it will also include lots of other different missions that i come up with. If anyone has any suggestions for missions, upgrades or generally anything then feel free to post them here or PM me if you'd like your mission to contain any surprises!

Any feedback is greatly appreciated! (Not sure about how easy/hard it should be, dependence on bulk upgrade, etc.)

Currently this pack includes the steal wares commands (alot more complex than u might think - this aint no cheat!) the bulk transporter upgrade and my first batch of new BBS missions, I still got more planned to be added at some point.

And thanks to alot of other scripters, without their previous scripts to look at for reference i wouldnt have got this far.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Description:

Not everything in the X universe is quite as legitimate, innocent and shiny as you'd first think. This script pack adds a variety of legal and not so legal missions to the BBS. It also adds the steal wares commands, which may come in useful...

Now adds weapons dealers to the BBS (usually in pirate bases or trading stations).

Also adds an option in the artifiacial life menu for extra pirate stations. If this is set to enabled then new pirate bases will slowly be built in the universe and existing bases will occasionally buy lasertowers for defence. Can be disabled via the Artificial life menu.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Background Information:

After transporter devices entered the public marketplace the teladi managed to reverse engineer Goner Transporter devices. Due to interstella copyright laws the teladi were unable to release their own version and eventually came to an agreement the Goners believed to be mutually beneficial to all, allowing the bulk transporter upgrade to be released. Due to Teladi subsidies on the station based side of the technology it was quickly adopted universe wide with all stations now being complient with the new technology.

Of course, with every new technology there comes new ways to exploit the system. Put together by a group of renegade engineers and programmers, the Transporter Override System overrides the transporter device's safety protocols and allows the pilot to execute unauthorised cargo transports.

A bulk transporter upgrade is required to access a station's cargo transporter, while a freight scanner is required to target wares onboard another ship.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

BBS missions:

Follow the instructions given!

Using Steal Wares from station:

Select in the piracy menu of your ship.

1. Choose the station you are docked at.
2. Choose the ware to 'acquire'
3. Choose the amount of ware to 'acquire'

The device will then activate.

Using Steal Wares from ship:

1. Choose your target ship.
2. Choose the ware to 'acquire'
3. Choose the amount of ware to 'acquire'

The device will then activate. The range of the device will depend on the tragetted ships systems, sheilds and the amount and type of ware to be 'aquired'

WARNING: Being completely unathorised and unsupported by all universe guilds, the override systems are not guaranteed to be able to access a station's cargo transporter or be 100% compatible with all ships systems (NOT SCRIPTING ERRORS, technology issues - its made by pirates!...). Also, due to the differences in different station's security systems the transport can not be guarenteed to go unnoticed every time. If you are detected a ship/stations owner may not be very happy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Install:

Just extract the rar file to your main X3 directory or use cycrows script installer.

Brilliant....

Look forward in trying this later when home.

I have a Steal Wares commands already... I take it these missions compliment these commands from what I gather above ?

Or is this Steal Ware another addition to upgrades ?

Yes, these missions are fully compatible with my steal wares commands. I've been planning this for ages and this mission pack was why i made those commands in the first place, it just took me some time to getting around to adding the missions.

This pack also includes the newest version of the steal wares commands. Some missions may need them, whereas others wil not.

AL

TIP: Some missions are more frequently found in Teladi and Pirate areas due to the nature of the missions....

Brilliant! I'm looking forward to trying these out...

Are there any compatibility issues with other scripts and mods....?

For my part, I'm using the DDRS mod and Cycrow's set of scripts.

Thanks,

KK

I use have most scripts on the community list installed myself so there shouldnt be any problems there. The commands used dont clash with any other script on the community list so I cant see any reason why this script would have any compatibility issues with any other script or mod.

(Hardly anyone uses any piracy commands anyway! :) )

8112 is from this script, yes. - I assume you're already using version 1.11??? As an earlier version had a readtext but thats fixed now.

Where are you getting it and is the file 448112 in your t folder?

Incase the installers not put the newest version in, try getting the file (448112.xml) out of the zip pack for this script and replacing the one in your t folder with that one.

In the mean time I'll look into it, but the script is working fine on my computer at the moment.

AL

You did mean 8112 and not 8812 i take it?

EDIT: Just quickly checked the text file in the zip pack - and the 2710 entry is definately there.

- I assume you got this on the BBS system?

yes BBS system.

8112-2710
8112-2501

Replaced and updated twice ALL your scripts...yet still get the read errors...

Just had a look and in my 't' directory I do have the 448112.xml document.... dated 23/02/06

if any of your other scritps use the same text file, its possible the installer might use the older version, i found a slight error when checking the creation time.

this is fixed in the current beta version thou, which should hopefully be fully released within the next few days ;)

Like, i said - i checked the text file in the zip pack and the entry definately existed.

So I can only assume that the file 448112 in your t folder isnt the newest version and thats why your gtting the readtext errors?

EDIT: how does the installer choose which file to put in? Is it solely on date or down to which version of the script the .spk file was? As i possibly made one version of the text file and then also updated it on 23rd, ie. the same day.

well, it should use the last modified time of the file
so it only puts the file that has most recently been modified, which usually should be the correct file.

however i missed something, and this check is only performed if the scripts is the same, so if you have the same files in another script it doesn't check the time and just overrights it.

so its will be based on the most recent script you installed, this is fixed in the new beta thou
