Hi guys, made an earlier post asking if you could swap level25 auto trader pilots to new (bigger) ships and received the feedback that I could by using the special command sofware. Have spent the last hour trying with no luck... I have made sure that the 2 ships are close to each other (approx 800m) but all it ends up doing is wanting to dock at a station.. Any step by step procedure would be greatly appreciated, thanks. (incidently the game is X3)

You need to have Special COmmand Software installed on your ship.
  1. Buy new ship. DO NOT add Trade Command Software MK III or Fight Command Software MK I or MK II. You may upgrade its guns, hold, speed and rudder. Sell its shields, the UT pilot will try to take his with him and pre-existing ones will vanish!
  2. Make sure both origin ship and destination ship are in space, (in the same sector, I think), on standby (command None).
  3. Issue Transfer pilot command in your ship's command menu, the galaxy map will appear.
  4. Select sector containing origin ship, then origin ship
    Galaxy map will reappear.
  5. Select sector containing destination ship, then destination ship.
Galaxy map will make its third appearance.
  6. Select a sector and station where the pilots can meet and transfer.
The transfer will take place, this may take a while.
During the transfer the pilot will take the essential software he needs, and will also take the name of the ship and its shields with him. His old ship will be renamed "---".You may dock with the station and transfer any other goods he might need such as extra shields.
  7. Instruct UT to start universe trader command to get him moving again.
Hope this helps!

I've been doing it since the UT script appeared for X2... and to tell the truth I can't remember how I found out, Trial, Error and reading the forum I guess.

i'm probably crazy but wouldn't it be nice if the move pilot script would just move the pilot?

A lot of people asked for the extras to be moved, due to the difficulty of moving equipment remotely - ie, having run the Transfer Pilot command, they STILL had to go and dock at the same station so they could then manually transfer equipment from one ship to the other. If it worked properly, ie the pilot took only what the other ship did not have, then it would definately be useful.

Has this feature been corrected in later patches (1.4.03) or is it stillin effect?

Hrmph... Yes, it's still there.
Seriously, this is too silly. That script has to be tweaked so it makes sense.

You buy a Super Freighter with all shields pre-installed (and I assume you pay hefty to get it like that) then you have to sell them only because the script is so crappy it actually moves all shields (usually inferior ones at that) and other stuff while moving the pilot?

Where's the sense in that?? Please fix this in the next patch or as a stand-alone script release if no further patches are planned.

How long should it take for the shields, etc to be transfered over to the new ship?

My pilot has transfered over to the new ship but I noticed the ship names have stayed the same and the freight bay remains empty on the new one.

Note that after you give the transfer command, the ships fly to the same sector, land in the same station and then do the transfer. This does take a while, don't mess with the ships until they are done. Cool

this was in the updated 1.4 manual u can download...

or am I the only one who reads this stuff? Laughing

yeah, it's an annoying thing to do. Keep forgetting not to buy the Fight and Trade softwarre beforehand, and end up getting the names of the ships mixed up and gotta figure it all out....

Not the only, just one of the few. It would seem. Of course, the players that read the manual don't need to ask those questions so much. Rolling Eyes

I got the updated manual, it is much better than the original printed one. And it has a lot more stuff than the X2 manual had. Smile

The Bonuspack probably modified the "Transfer Pilot" command, because now it has to work with Commercial Agents, and Commodity Logistics Software too. It definitely works on those, and does not transfer equipment/upgrades nor rename ships. The question naturally is, did the change affect the Trade Mk3 transfer routine?
