Cant find either Buster or the Falcon, having a mare - I started on xtreme, lost all the ships I have found so far to pirates or something, who knows, but I am relying on selling either or all or them to kik start my game. Damn its slow on xtreme - it took a week to amass 500k
Please give general locations not co-ordinates, I am not sure how to get to the co-ordinates just by flying.
In short if you have found these ships shout out where they are for us 'so called xperts on Xtreme' lol .
Thanks in advance
Cools

When i go hunting for "lost" ships i buy a cheap Discoverer... upgrade it with triplex scanner and intall a jumpdrive, then i load up with energy cells....
When i find the ship im after i claim it and jump over to my new ship.
Then i make the Discoverer dump his energy cells, triplex scanner and energy cells.. and open my cargo hold and pick them up with my new ship...
Then its easy to jump to the nearest friendly sector
Easy? VERY EASY!
And i dont bother getting the discoverer back... i usually just abandon it where i find the new ship..

Freebie ships - The coordinates!
Here are the coordinates for the dozen 'freebie' ships. The coordinates of your ship are shown at the bottom right-hand side of the sector map. The map shown when you press the period (.) key (if it is still set to the default key).
 |
Toucan Hauler in sector Menelaus' Frontier (0, 3) at 43, -7, 35
Iguana Vanguard in sector Family Whi (0, 6) at 0, 0, 40
Harrier Sentinel in sector The Vault (0, 13) at -25, -10, -14
Falcon Sentinel in sector Unknown Sector (0, 16) at -20, 3, 2
Buzzard Hauler in sector Family Tkr (3, 14) at -35, -7, -10
Buster Sentinel in sector Akeela's Beacon (6, 8) at 30, -10, -30
Buster Sentinel in sector Treasure Chest (6, 14) at 0, 50, 0
Scorpion Raider in sector Xenon Sector 101 (7, 5) at 0, 0, 80
Mamba Raider in sector LooManckStrat's Legacy (10, 9) at -17, 0, 0
Nova in sector Unknown Sector (10, 18) at -12, 1, -19
Mako Raider in sector Depths Of Silence (13, 0) at 1, -3, 38
Pericles Vanguard in sector Unknown Sector (15, 7) at -10, 10, 10
(0, 0) is the centre of the sector. The three coordinates relate to X, Y and Z axis.

Sweet lord, how on earth do you even get to the mamba, let alone get away with it?

To clarify:
 |
I map out the mines. They seem to be surrounding it along the plane of the ecliptic. I come in from above with my ship, I blow up. I park my ship outside of range, above the mamba, eject and tootle on in, in my suit, I blow up and the mamba blows up. I shoot the mines, they blow up and they blow the mamba up.
Any ideas? |

After i got mine on the second attempt i posted this pick as soon as it was safe at my ship, as you can see there is room to move between the squash mines

| Just approach it from below, and then when you enter the ship just strafe straight down. |

Yes the orientation of the map always stays the same
The best bit of advice is to chart the mines surrounding the ship, then zoom to 400%, as you can see there is two ways to get in and back out without triggering a mine, so leave your ship antravel in between either entry point, keep the sector map open and use it to make sure you arent drifting more to the left and right, apply the same technique to get out but when in the mamba go very slowly liek the spacesuit so you have time to make a slight course correction if need be
And from my pic you can see i was just over 1km above the ecliptic, it doesnt matter at what altitude you are at as mines sensor are radial and dont just scan along an ecliptic plain

It took me a couple of attempts, but found this worked:-
 |
I came in from below in a disco, at about 60m I hopped out, flew in my suit to within 30m of the mamba, claimed it, did a 180 and got back into the disco (which was still facing the mamba), put the disco in reverse for about 3km, then ordered the mamba to follow me. Then it's just a case of flying out of the way of all the squash mines!
|
|
Hope that helps!
