[REL] Alliance Normandy SR2 (Mass Effect 3)

Hi,

After playing around with Cadius Longsword MK2 and after playing Mass Effect again, I noticed how strange the Longsword looked compared with the Normandy SR2.
So I thought, why dont I go and make an actual Normandy for X3TC. I sucessfully gotten the model and its textures out of Mass Effect and have successfully gotten it ingame. Right now I still need some small fixes regarding the Normandy and SR2 writings, but everything else is good to go. I will be uploading the file once I made it into a standalone xsp. 8)

Edit: Here it is, a fully working Normandy SR2 in the blue Alliance livery from Mass Effect 3. Made it into an xsp for easy installing. If someone wants to improve or modify it, go ahead, as long as you give credit. By the way I use a new nickname now. Its Nyx2k if anyone is wondering. The forums use the old one though.

If the game crashes while loading, exit the ship and fly to a sector without ships. Then save the game and uninstall the mod. Start the game, load the save and save it again. Quit the game install the updated version and load your save. Not sure if it is really needed, or if you just have to be in a different sector than the ship when you update, but better safe than sorry.

Dude there already is a Normandy Class ship available.
Been a couple of years but I think I may have seen it on the ship downloads.
Never bothered flying it but it worked with the X3 TC I use.

Yeah I know, but that one is the Normandy SR1 from Mass Effect 1. I´m after the Normandy SR2 from Mass Effect 2 and 3. Its a completely different ship. :wink:

See the difference? And the Lomgsword MK2 in Cadius Shippack is just a remodeled SR1, and as a die hard Mass Effect fan, the SR2 has to be as accurate as possible. You dont drive around in a lookalike ferarri if you can have a real one do you? :lol:

edit: I have been trying it myself for hours now. I can export the 3d model in bod format, but there are 2 problems, 1. its completely out of place and
2. it has no textures.

I see a big flaw in your topic : there are no screenshots. I do not download ships if i don't know how they look ingame.

Working on it, and I upload them as we speak. I updated the no decal version wit X3 textures on the engines and glowing windows. The decal version will be updated later.

Would you happen to have a version with the SR2 textures in BOB format? I'd prefer to add it old school rather than use an XSP file.

Looks really good. I'll give it a try. I guess I'll replace Cadius' SR2 since his version looks as angular as the original SR1 does at the ventral stern part. Don't like that. But your looks quite smooth. :thumb_up:

That was the reason I started this thread. I wanted the real Normandy. :D
In the Process I figured, why not release it? That way some others are able to use it aswell.


Btw, OP updated with the ship files in bob, bod and the textures in dds format. The stats are from cadius Longsword MK2. He did a really good job with them so I left them that way. The ingame description is from the Mass Effect ingame Codex entry. All other info can be extracted from the XSP.

Thanks for up loading the BOB/BOd files, one question before I down load though. You mentioned these are from ME 3 and I want to make sure I'm not downloading any thing that's copy righted, so whats the deal on permissions for these files?

As far as I know noone ever heard anything from EA or Bioware. And there are alot of converted things out there used in all kinds of games. I have been active in the GTA Community as a moderator for quite some time now and the only things the companies had a problem with it was when credits where not given and/or the person sells them for money. And since I have no intention in selling it, it should be okay.

Had time to give it a try ... very beautiful so far. My new favourite besides Voyager. Though there are a few things to notice:
- the Weapon dummies need to be repositioned a bit. Some are hovering above the hull (top), some invisible inside the ship (rear)
- is there a chance to get better textures (higher resolution)?

- a more personal question: I use the unpacked version (prefer moddable files). It contains the decal tecture, but they are not implemented. Will there be an decaled and unpacked version, too?

The Decals Version is not updated yet with glowing windows. And the Decals are buggy. Has something to do with the specular maps I suppose. Until I fixed this, the decal version will not be released as an unpacked version.
Regarding the High Res textures, I´m still searching for them. But the ones provided are the largest ones I found in the game files. But I´m still looking.
Regarding the turrets, thats still on the to do list and will be fixed as soon as I fixed the decals and the Textures.

Anychance we could get a smaller M6 version of this? I like the model but tend to keep a unique m6 docked in my carrier as a personal command yacht and the SR2 model is just plain too big.

I based this ship off of Cadius Longsword MK2 which resembles the Normandy SR2. And since it is double the size of the Normandy SR1, the class is M7. There are a few mods out there that add the Normandy SR1 to the game. That one is an M6. You can check the differences in the links I posted on the first page. So I wont change the size or the class of the ship. sorry about that.


I will be releasing a updated version with decals later today. Both as XSP and open. :)

No decal version updated with new Scene file.

High res textures are a problem. The game uses a different mapped model for high res cutscenes and the 2048x2048 Textures cant be extracted. All I can get are 1024x1024 textures that are already included.

So, until I come across a useable high res texture, the actual textures need to make do. Sorry about that, but if I manage to extract the 2048 textures somehow I still need to either remap the whole model or need to use the cutscene one which is half done. :(

It's really great (though I changed turrets and cockpits a bit mainly to not see the bow of the ship).
How did you extract the textures? What do I need to extract the textures from ME2 to create a Cerberus Normandy?
Maybe you might want to make more ME XSP Ships :D ?
