Renaming Sectors
Is there any mod that allows us to rename any sector we want? If I take over a sector i'd like to change its name to something more significant to my empire
This might be some help...
made this to create help with managing the entries for the language file.

SO where does such a changed file get placed in the game folder..
Effin:
(Of course I'm using Open Office and it was a blank sheet.)
So where is this file at, that we can modify and can we place it back in the same or a new location.
I'm trying to be a simple as possible when making the changes..
Script folder
t folder?
types
other.
A text file??
I know that Apriot has one where you could change the Hub name, but it doesn't work anymore since I installed the claim sector mod.

You can't edit files through scripts. You can only send output to a specific directory (my docs/egosoft/x3tc). It could only be done through a 3rd party software that converts script output to tfile, but it's far fetched and probably a buggy solution. So basically, it's a "no can't do" for 99.5% of scripters and users here.Lancefighter wrote:can scripts write to tfiles?
or would it require a program to look at a log, move it to the proper place in the tfile, then have the script reload the tfile to use it?
So, if the question is "can i dynamically change sector name through script?", the answer is no. A script that includes several t-files can offer the player to choose from an array of names, nothing more though. Think about the "Avarice" sector in X3:R.
As a matter of fact, sectors aren't dynamic objects in X3 sadly (unlike ships or stations). You can't change their name or put local variables on them, which is VERY annoying imho. You can only change ownership and security level through script.
