Hello :)

Does anyone have a version of this (or a similarly functioning script) that does not require use/installation of the plugin manager (i.e. non-spk version)?

Thanks in advance!

Right-click the .spk and choose "Extract to .zip".
  • (Requires full PM installation, obviously).

Right... I'm trying to avoid installing the plugin manager. If I absolutely must though, I will. Was hoping someone had a .zip I could use.

It's a nice tool but the only thing I need it for is this one mod. I can install it, extract this one spk, and then uninstall it but if I can find a zip then I won't need to. I manage my addons manually to avoid issues such as install order problems with cat/dats.

If you run the PM in advanced mode, it has some terrific tools for managing fake patches (including load order).

I install everything with the PM because it is the easiest way to manage installations, including .cats.
  • (Some package require repacking for proper installation with the PM.

The most notable thing is that .cats should be renamed to a two-digit number (*any* two-digit number). I call them all 20.cat/.dat. The PM will automatically renumber the .cat/.dat pair when it installs.)

I appreciate the heads up about PM use, but from using it years ago I remember several issues using it. I know it can be configured to be more useful but there were lots of addons I used that simply were not suitable for its use. Since it is not and really can not be a solution for ALL addons I personally don't use it for any. Again, it's a nice tool but I'm just not interested in using it beyond possibly extracting an spk here and there. I really would just like a zip version of this script if possible... If not I will use the PM as suggested to extract it.

Thanks for your help Dr. Bullwinkle :)

Suit yourself.
  • (But the only scripts/mods that I can think of that are not suitable for PM installation (after proper packaging) are those that require dedicated installers. Which are darned few. :) )
